NEED HELP IN MAKING A BIG DECISION FOR A STUDIO INPUT PLEASE

TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT IVE TEAMED UP W A LOCAL PRODUCER AND AM CURRENTLY LAYING TRACKS FOR LOCAL ARTISTS...I HAVE MY OWN STUDIO SETUP AT MY HOUSE AND NEED TO DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT TO UPGRADE FROM AN MPC60 W THE 3.10 OS TO A 2000XL SO I CAN BE ABLE TO TRANSFER 2000XL WORK FROM MY STUDIO TO HIS...OR DO I BUY A NEW PC/LAPTOP FOR THE DIGI 002 TO RECORD ON MY OWN ... SO I HAVE THIS QUESTION

IF I RECORDED MY 12-BIT LO-FI MPC60 INTO MY PRO TOOLS DIGI 002 RACK WOULD THE SOUNDS GET "CLEANED" UP TO CLEARER 24-BIT/44.1KHZ RATES AND THEREFORE GIVE ME THE 2000XL SOUND I WANT?OR DO I HAVE TO GET THE 2000XL TO MAINTAIN THAT RATE?

to put it simple, what kind of paint brush do you want to use paint on your canvas.

if u have a 60 and it gives you grime, what ever you record unto, your only get back tht grime, the higher resolutions mean tht you get a very close representation of the original grime you had in the first place. and pro tools 002 is 24/96. the higher bit rates and sample rates translate to higher headroom in non linear editing, so u could use more plug ins effectively, without clipping, and you get as i said b4 better representation of original source.

garbage in, garbage out. if you transfer your favrite mix tape with dj clue, from tape to cd, its gonna sound the same way, but its just gonna be on a different format. plugins can clean up only so much, without interferring with the original signal.

dont know what your taste is, but i have created very clean samples from an s950, and through the use of eq and bbe sonic maximizer, it was acceptable to me.

i would never sell a sixty, buy a sampler and have the 60 control it. akai s 2000 , basically an xl without the sequencer. also emu's sound is said to be warmer, than akai, so you can look into esi3200 or 4000. with turbo option. or if ya got the money cop an s5000/ or a z4/ which is 24/96.

Not trying to be a dick, but your doing your thing with the 60, don't change for cats, do your thing. If anything buy a 2000xl to go along with the 60. Some cats change up there equipment, but they usually stay loyal to that one piece that helped them

i was thinkin the same thing... maybe i should just keep it and get a s2000 or 3000

Besides having a higher bitrate (sounding cleaner), racksamplers also have more memory, are more suited to load instrument samples, and are cheaper second hand than a 2000xl.
I have a 2000xl, and i love it. But if i had a 60 i would never trade it for a 2000xl.
