the sample has a mix output which is one single mono output with everything mixed to that channel... panning included. it's basically like one of the 8 outputs but with everything assigned to it... and every sample in mono which it has to be in the s900/950.

yes it has a left and right output... but he wont know how those work until he reads the manual.

i wouldn't have thought so either... but I just re-read the last two pages of this thread to try and figure out what the dude's problem really is.... and I think it's cause he doesn't understand the basics about stereo signals mono signals, etc...

Ok, hmm.. i know, my knowledge about technical stuff doent reach peaks...

From what i understand i need
- a TS to RCA from the s950 to the hifi amp / or a mixer like a mackie or such..
- My TRS to 2 mono jack is right for my dj mixer to line input s950

I wont be questioning the left and right output till i fully read the manual about that concerning aspect [promised]

edit: and yes i dont understand the basics of signals. I always worked with hifi stuff, mpc, macbook and a apogee soundcard. The whole mono-ish thing is a bit confusing for me.. [thanks for the patience]

NO!

you need s950 to the mixer (yes like a mackie) you can even use a guitar cable for this (you kniow what that looks like). THEN you connect the stereo outputs of the mackie mixer to your hi-fi amp.

that is step 1.

do that, and push the P.B button on the front of your s950 to test it out.

sorry to throw conflicting info out there, but OP does NOT need a mixer.

Left output of s950 -> left input of hifi-amp
Right output of s950 -> right input of hifi amp

that is the most basic setup.

True, that will only allow one to hear the s950. If you want to hear s950 AND mpc, then you need a mixer.
All the info everyone else is giving is correct, but a mixer is only needed if two signals need to be mixed.

ok, im about to save up for a decent mixer then..

Sorry to bother again but why o why would they phrase down in the manual that it's possible to hook up the mix out of s950 to the aux in of an hifi amp

because it IS possible. They are assuming, you've got a professional sampler, you understand the difference between a mono and stereo signal.

The mix out is one mono out, and your hifi amp is expecting TWO mono inputs to make stereo.
Your s950 also provides TWO mono outs to make stereo.
The 'mix out' is one mono out, and will only be mono unless you do some adapting.

Its technical, but to run 1 mono signal to 2 properly, you need to build in a resistor (I think 1k?) to the cable.

'The 'mix out' is one mono out, and will only be mono unless you do some adapting.'

and this can only be done when puttin a mixer between those two, now i assume?

I keep asking cause i wanna rock that piece proper! as ive said my cables didnt do the job (only one side sound)

To do it proper without mixer:
use the stereo outs - left to left and right to right (is this not obvious?)

To do it proper with a mixer:
either use the mix out in ONE channel panned center
use the stereo outs in two channels, one panned left one panned right (some mixers have stereo channels that do this)
use the 8 assignable outs into individual channels panned however you want

you don't need to build a resistor into a y-cable for splitting output, only for mixing two input signals.
If you use a y-cable for output though, your signal strength at each output will be reduced. <- you could use a mono TS to two mono TS y-cable to convert your mono 'mix out' jack to 'stereo' (its not really stereo).
This would be completely pointless as the s950 has stereo L and R out already.

There is something you add to a single mono to dual mono cable to maintain signal strength, though, right?
