another thing we forgot to mention is that because there is no headphone output on the s950... he would have to get himself a pair of midi headphones.

to make it even more complicated:
nogginj, I'm sorry to say that you're wrong about the left/right output.
It all depends on the output setting and/or how many samples you play (polyphony)

Each sample (in other words: each keygroup) can be set to ONE output channel (output 1-8, LEFT, RIGHT, ALL)

output 1-8 are monophon so only 1 sample at a time can be played out of these.
the outputs LEFT and RIGHT are polyphon so you can, for example play a chord on them (4times polyphon, more later..). And thats the only difference to the 1-8 outputs.

the output channel ALL represents ALL channels and is of course polyphon.

Some examples:
You set your sample to ALL and play 1 note -> these outputs will play the sample: MIX, output 1, left
Same again but you play 2 notes(at the same time) -> MIX, output 1 will play 1 note, output 2 will play the second note, left will play both notes
guess what happen when you play 3 notes :) .....right, MIX and LEFT will play all three notes and the monophon outputs will devide the notes between themselfs.

The output RIGHT wont play unless you play more than 4 notes OR set a sample directly to it. You see, the left and right output devide the polyphony the first 4 samples (or rather said "poly-channels" :D) will play on the LEFT output the next 4 will play on the RIGHT.

confused??

peace

Damn, thanks for the clarification. I just assumed L/R outs were the same as my mpc L/R outs.

Good luck op ;].

^ no, that's why i said he needs to read the manual... because imagine trying to explain that to the OP at this point when he hasn't gotten the basics of how he will use the s950 down yet... the mix out into a mixer will be a simple start to having the sound play in both speakers.

Thanks! Thanks!

I think I start f*ckin with the s950 till i have a mixer... Quite logical also, since i got an macbook, mpc and s950..i hate rewiring everything when I use an another device

I know this is a bit outta the question..
I know behringer is crap.
My wallet is deadempty, so my budget is not that high.. What would you guys suggest? (i think i go for a second hand)

yes ive sampled before. On the 1k.
And since i've mastered the 1k....

Im know the mpc1000, but im not familiar with hookin' **** up with midi, so give me a break

i think to master a MIDI PRODUCTION CENTRE you need a good understanding of MIDI and signal path, both of which you evidently proved you have no clue about.

well if i have any problems with my brand spanking new 1000 i'll be sure as hell to come to you for advice

the level of retardation here is unsurpassed, just use the 950 as a clock radio and have done, as i suggested before.

yea its called a preamp (or 2).
serious.

^^^I was being facetious, lol. WTF else will amplify signal other than....an AMPLIFIER????

I guess sarcasm gets easily confused with seriousness in text.

i know you was joking jones. just trying to leave the open-ended misinformation with a tiny bit of correct information.

it all worked out in the end.

there is a 950 on fleabay for $650...do people actually pay that kind of crap? OP is lucky for finding one so cheap...I will never understand paying top-dollar, modern day prices for 1980's technology and the opportunity to give yourself many headaches.

The people that actually know how to use these things often will just give them away.
