hey whats up i just installed a 80gb hard drive in my 1000 & im having trouble . here what i did installes the hard drive then turned on the mpc i hit mode then load . went to hard drive then hit utlilize then formatted it . after that checked the memory it said 73400 something like that so i knew it reconized it right ?? cause i know i am not gonna get all 80gb . so now i bought to kits online downloaded them & now the when i drag the files on the mpc 1000 icon on my laptop it loads the files onto the mpc but after its done i go to my hard drive on the mpc it only reads one little file and the others files i cant find or load ?? so did i do something wrong did i download it wrong ?? also i got a message on my laptop saying i need to format the hard drive & also i bought a refurbished hard drive could it be the hard drive is defective ?? please help i am dying to create some beats

do you know exactly what format are the files in and what bith depth?, maybe you need to dither the audio files to 16bit 44.1k...also if you think hard drive is defective what you could do is test it by downloading utility application to your computer and running test to check for bad sectors

Don't play the guessing game.Record straight into the MPC name sample and see if you can save to your hard drive.If so can you load sample?It will eliminate allot of guess work.Good luck TYPO.

ok guys thank for the help i figure my first problem now i have a new problem i made a sequence renamed it & saved on my flash card & just to be on the safe side i saved on my hard drive also . now when i turned on my mpc later on i load up my sequence on the flash card it reconized it but no sound . so then i load it up on the hard drive & same problem . i read the manual a hundred times & googled my question & been on u tube and still no luck please help me thanks !!

Ok, if you've read the manual a hundred times, then it's time to get The Book:

It will explain the different saving options very clearly. And there are around 50 more tutorials, very useful.

Obviously you only saved the sequence. You did not save the program with samples. Hence, no sound. See manual, page 92: Saving all the data in the memory at the same time. Study SAVE ENTIRE MEMORY, see if you did that when saving.

When you get the Book, study chapter 006 Saving. It helps.
