you can't get that sound anywhere else, but with a few effect plugins you can create that same needle popp'n grungy sound....so u don't need to really go the vinyl route these days.,.,my oly exception is the rare gems that aren't out there on mp3 and youtube.,.,so vinyl still sticks around somewhat

If your sampling mp3s your sound is gonna be small compared sampling analog. I've heard plenty beats sampling mp3s and it always sound garbled and lacking. Then peeps wanna know why they get critized so harshly for their beats. Because that shit's annoying thats why.

After all the glamour and glitz of making a beat. Step back and really listen to those beats made with mp3s then listen to those of vinyl or even wav. files. The difference is night and day, day and night. Have a sugar cookie.

I'm from Trenton and I go to Princeton Record Exchange. That have both used and new records. Worth checking out if you're in the area

if your anywhere near NYC (I didnt read every comment, im to lazy so i dont know what part of jersey your from), come across the hudson and hit up the east village, neigborhood is loaded with ill diggin spots. A1 records, good records, big city records, bleeker street records...all nice spots! also in the east village (downtown, east) theres always dudes sellin vinyl on the streets, around where fat beats used to be (between 8th and 9th street)...also greenwich village usually has dudes sellin records on the street.

Bleecker Bob sucks. Maybe because I don't buy rare rock records, but I've never found any decent deal there. Their records are always so pricy, I've never bought from them, and people who work there live up record store guy's stereo type (i.e. condescending and unfriendly.) I always wander how they can manage to keep the business for so long... Anyway, I don't even bother check records there, even if I happen to pass by.

yeah ive always thought the same thing about bleeker, they are real pricks there. i honestly have only been there 3 times, so id figure id mention it..theres nothing like A1 though, that place is crazy dope for hip hop.

Yeah, A1 is good too, although I've been there only a few times. It is worth even just for window shopping. They do have good records, and very organized. I remember long time ago (like 10 years ago!) I bought Juicy "Suger Free" 12" for $25 at A1. I thought I was kind of ripped off that time, but I've never seen the copy, so I think I made good choice buying it.

yeah A1 has good deals most the time. best dollar bins ive ever seen for hip hop too, a lot of good 12"

Yeah check out Greenwich, there's underground record shops there, you would think you were walking in someone's house but they're digging shops. Most of them are on the east side.

I hate Bleeker, bunch of cocksuckers. I went in there with my street gear and they acted like I aint shit, but one day I got off work and still in the suit and tie and they treated like gold. I was like "these guys don't remember me do they?" I was just window shopping anyway but it felt good acting like my money wasn't worth spending there, I was like "nah, these selections suck, I have most of these."

yeah the village is dope..point being downtown is where its at for records.

also i heard of this place in brooklyn called the thing, its a thrift store, i heard the bassment is completely bonkers , filled with crates and crates..imma hit that up sometime in the near future. its off the g train in greenpoint.

okay just so you guys know there are plety places to scoop records in Jersey!!!! you just have to know where to look!!!Princeton record exchange has been played out since the 90s LOL most people know not to go there...As far as the spot on 18 it was a red house before it was sold and they used too have dope records there...If you guys from Jersey wanna get it in then I suggest we get together and I might be persuaded to take you on a real beat mission!! Like i said you have to know where to go!! Hit me up if you are down bout time some of us came together and really got something done this would be just start we can talk beat tape later....

I second this, I just buy records that I want for my own personal collection. Sampling is much more enjoyable when I actually love the breaks I'm flipping.
