Hi I'm F'n retarded and I was hoping someone could tell me which inputs I would use to connect an HD 147 guitar amplifier to my mpc 2500 for direct recording. I got the basics of direct recording, it's just the connection I don't understand. Even if no one knows how to connect it to that SPECIFIC hd 147 amplifier, can anyone help me with connection to a generic electric guitar amplifier?

HD 147 manual, see Rear Panel Features.

There are two balanced XLR (male) outputs. You'd need two XLR (female) to TRS balanced cables if you wanted to record in stereo - or one for mono recording. Connect them to Record Ins of the MPC. You could also use the Phones output, if you haven't got suitable cables. You might also try the Effects Loop Send jacks. Whatever works.

Note - and this is important: never even think of connecting anything but speakers to Speaker Outputs. You'd blow something up that way. A guy I know (no, not a drummer) tried to record some band rehearsals by connecting speaker outputs of an amplified P.A. mixer straight to his MacBook soundcard input. It melted. Beyond repair.

There's no such thing as a generic guitar amplifier. If in doubt, read the manual
