boonies shit aint even that special. I mean no disrespect to him,but all he did is what you should do.......make the shit yourself with your own flavor. there aint nothing special to it. and just cause you got his drums dont make your stuff good all of a sudden.

you have access to breaks used by all the masters...........yet your skippin past that shit and still prob sound wack.

To the OP, after running through these I think you'll have a better idea of what style records are likely to have open drums you can sample and chop. Another tip = Jamaica. Almost every Jamaican record from 1968 through the 80's has a few hits in the intro drops, although you will find more snares and rims than kicks. I don't care about catching entire breaks, Recycle rules my world and is so quick that I will take the time to get even 1 hi-hat or whatever and throw out the whole rest of the record.

Like others said no foul meant to Boonie, but if your just starting out, learning how to get 'em yourself is the move. Plus it's easy and more addictive than crack.

I would never pay for drum kits or the like. Especially now, there's a billion drum kits for free all over the web. Not to mention ripping samples from youtube, etc. OF COURSE VINYL! It just doesn't make sense. With just the drum kits and sounds provided from links right here on the forums, YOU'RE GOOD TO GO!

I mean, if I was boonie, I'd have been selling drum kits after a million views on youtube. Speaking of Boonie, I always wondered how he kinda came up short. I wonder if he passed up any kind of productions deals along the way. I bet he wishes he hadn't if that's the case. He showed everyone how to use the 1000, bet he wishes he got a check from Akai 1st. How many cats bought the 1000 after being inspired by boondoc! Free advertising to the fullest.

boonie even explains what he does with his drums in some of his videos. dont look for a magical answer. drum kits like these can be good, but you cant stop there. its better to know how to do it for yourself, in the long run it will benefit your beats.

its all about the breaks. even drum kits ive bought in the past still ended up layered, eq, tweaked to make it work according to my ears and taste, so your gonna have to learn either way.
