New application for the MPC 2000 XL - Now v0.4

Hello,

As i was frustrated about loading samples into my MPC, which takes hours, I tried to make an application in order to do so on a computer.
This is a very simple application (but not simple to program, actually), which loads sounds (can play them), and exports it for the MPC 2000 XL (only).
You can also open any of your PGM file (for XL), and the soft will read the samples associated.
As this is a bêta version, I suggest you to not overwrite your existing PGM files with this soft.

oh nice, let me ask... does it convert the file type to .snd or .wav by any chance or what have you? and can it function with older .snd files from machines such as the mpc 60 etc?

What versions of windows etc is this program compatible with?

lastly, have you tested this program with any other models such as the 2000 classic etc?

It can play snd and wav files (but this is not the aim of this soft). But if there are several versions of snd files, I'm afraid it won't play, but you can try.
And it doesn't convert files. If you save the PGM after having loaded some sounds, you have the option to save all the sounds in the same folder. But it will just copy the original sound files.

It is an Adobe Air program, so it should work on Windows, Mac and Linux. I tested it only on a Mac.

I didn't test the soft with a MPC 2000 because I don't have one, but I don't think it will work, unless this is the same file format as the 2000 XL, but I doubt.

okay, this week I will try and run a few tests on the 2000 classic. I dont have omni flop working for usb floppy disk drives (if that is even possible) so I cant test it with the 60...

I will attempt to try it out as soon as possible.

i dont think omniflop works with usb floppy drives. i remember reading that when i was transferring eps sounds to hxc format.

Anyway, my soft is way simpler than his, it is very basic. And works on Mac and Linux (moreover, this is why I made this soft).

To answer some questions :
- Adobe air is just a little application you have to install on your computer in order to install Air applications (there are a lot around). : http://get.adobe.com/fr/air/ . Very simple to install.
- If you have a MPC 2000 , MPC 3000, or MPC 60 file on your computer, you can send it to me and I will see how it's done :

- This soft is pretty usefull only if you can transfer your files easily from your computer to the MPC. I changed the floppy disk of the MPC for a card reader, so now, it is pretty usefull for me .

Not true Juke. You are a little mistaken. The author of mpceditor does visit these forums from time to time though.




btw Alesclandre, the app looks great. I had a little go on it but I'm not near an mpc right now so I can't do a full test.

Judging from the pictures this app looks nice! The fact that it's usable for mac is very interresting!
I'm currently using floppy disks so i'll have to:

a. install a cardreader (for wich i don't have the balls to do it myself.. scared as hell i'll eff up my XL but i'm slowly moving towards buying one..)
b. buy an usb floppy disk reader (costs less and a more saver way to transfer sounds to the XL)

listen you will need to get the XL's OS 1.20 on a floppy disk anyways to install that before you install the card reader if you plan on getting an ide/atapi one. If you plan on getting a scsi one dont worry, OS 1.14 is the correct and better choice.

Also, installing the card reader is not hard at all... it doesn't require soldering or anything like that... you just plug it in.

will this work with PPC macs? I just installed Adobe Air ver 1.5 and it seems not want to open under that version.

ver 2.x is only for intels
