For college, I've been asked to design an application. I decided to start coding an MPC app. I need some people to be my end users/testers. Would anybody with an Android like to do this? Thanks :)

could you make it look like the mpc 60?
By Corry Thu Jun 23, 2011 3:15 pm
Well i'm going to make it look similar to an MPC 1000 to start off with. But as time goes on, i'll add a theme button so you can change the layout of the MPC.
The thing is, it'll be impossible to make the mpc fit to screen, so there'll be lots of zooming involved in using the app.
Also, many of the MPC"s buttons would be useless with a touch screen device, so would you guys want the 'data wheel' 'direction arrows' and 'bar locate arrows' or should I adapt that all into the touch screen to make the app easier to use?
I'll PM anyone who's interested soon. :)

I don't have an Android, but I'm curious. Do you foresee the latency issues that have plagued and limited Droid music app development being an issue for you? Are there new developments on this front that you will utilize? I know next to nothing about the current state of Droid music apps, but was told by a friend who sells them, that somehow the situation was improving, but he was not specific. He also hates all things iOS so I don't know if he was exaggerating the widespread adoption of whatever optimization he was alluding to.

Respect on taking on a project like this and sharing it with the people here. Thanks in advance for any info you can share. :)

Great point. I love the Android platform because of the freedom. I can share any file on my device, make my own ringtones and a ton of other awesome things that I could not do in iOS but one of the down sides to Android OS is the lack of good music apps and I think some of it has to do with the latency issues you mentioned. I do think developers are starting to find ways around this as the latest installment of Electrum seems to have less latency. Latency renders music apps un-enjoyable in my opinion. While I am definitely on board with trying out this app (because Android really needs something like this) , I would ask the developer the same question about latency. :D

I think if done correctly you could land yourself a great product to generate some revenue for yourself. Again, Android needs an app like this.... I would love to be a part of the beta phase. :D
