How do you pan the audio of a stereo track from left to righ

Just wondering what programs you guys use to pan the audio from ear to ear when listening to a track. I want it to slowly flow from one ear to the next.

I use souny sound forge but I can't find anything that does that, what programs should I look into to pan the volume?

Im not familiar with soundforge. But i used to use Acid pro and there u could bring up a "Pan line" in the track and make simple points on right and left side. So its like drawing how much the panning is going left or right. Like an automation i guess. U should be able to do it in most DAW's.
