mpc 4k and logic

i heard that you can sequence using logic as a sound module with mpc,anyone know how to set it up?
normally when using logic i try and use the internal sequencer but id much rather use my 4k just not sure how to set it up?

Where did you hear that?

well i heard a few different producers who have it setup
i think rodney jerkins and there was a video of producer needlz who also sequences sounds from logic on his 4k.
i was hoping someone here might have the same setup?

OK so i followed the instructions given only problem seems that although i channelled each track to seperate midi tracks 1-16 and im using output A on my mpc i seem to keep getting midi track 1 playing on all my channels ?
with all tracks armed in logic and set too differentb midi channels my mpc 4k is only reading track 1midi channel 1?
i started off with a drumbeat on track 1 midi channel 1 from logic ,then jumped to track 5 midi channel 5 too add some horns but im only hearing drumkit vfrom midi channel 1? cant get them to play on seperate channels in my 4k?
need a little more help pls

Make sure that you follow step two in Clint`s tutorial to Auto demix by midi channel.


And when you want to record a sequence make sure that you highlight the track in logic you want to record on and the same track it set on your mpc.

yea i checked that .i went over this a few times and still cant figure out whats missing?
seems im only getting channel one because if i unarm record on track 1 and lets say i have a brass instrument on track 2 midi channel 2 its starts playing playing my my drum sequence from track but it just changes too what ever sound i have on track too.so now my drum sequence just turned into a brass sequence? for some strange reason my channels are not seperating ?

I'm using a iMac computer so the only thing I can say from this point is make sure the midi setup on your computer is good and go into preferences tab under logic and that the mpc shows up under the midi sync selections. When you hit a pad the midi note should show up in the transport bar. Make channel strip set to the port the mpc is on not all ports and then set the channels. I'm not home now but this is off the top of my head.

when track 1 is unarmed im able to hear what instrumenbts i have on track 2 but if i try to play them together i can only get track 1 too play.so if i have a drum track on 1 im not able to add more instruments to the sequence . its kinda late so ill have to keep trying out different settings tomorrow

I think i have your same problem, i noticed that if i "open window" on 1A and i monitor the midi output (on the mpc) only midichannel 1 would be highlighted, so i swithched it from "as track" to "omni a" and now when i change channel from the oxygen kboard i see all channells from 1 to 16 can be highlighted, ill see if it works now.

Edit: nah i still can record a sequence for one instrument on logic but when i change instrument it plays the midi notes i just recorded for a different instrument..basically i cant record more than one vst on the same sequence ..

yeah well i tried everything i could think of ,and still no solution ,nobody seems interested in givimg anymore solutions other then read the thread so i gave up for now!!
if i find a solution for this issue ill definitly let you know,i thought it was just me
