Wow, that's amazing. I just saw a lot of Quattro users complaining on driver on OS X. I guess the driver is natively installed on newer OS X (Audio MIDI Setup utility)?

Oops! on my previous post I referenced to Midi I/O driver,
the soundcard driver is:-

Quattro_OSX_1.6.2

Don't know if I've been flukey getting it to work but it hasn't had any problem at all.

Its on a MacBook Pro by the way, I was using an old G3 ibook for about 8 years but
it sadly died last year. I wasn't at all optimistic about the quattro working on the new
machine but it did.

Thank you for the detailed info. I am now interested in getting second hand Quattro unit. It can be used as 24 bit audio interface, if only 2 channels are activated, which is really nice. Like I said before I've been looking for 24 bit audio interface, new or used.
To be honest, a few month ago, I bought a FireWire audio interface (it is 2 in/2 out, a cheapest FireWire 24 bit audio interface available on the market, I won't name it, but you know which one I'm talking about) and output is OK, but there is something about the recording quality that I'm not happy about. I don't think I can claim I have a good trained ears, but I think it doesn't have good AD converter.
So, I am looking for the audio interface that can replace that duty.

Hello, so, I found Quattro on ebay and bought it. I've just received it today. It works with Mac OS X 10.6.7, but I cannot get 24 but mode (2 in / 2 out), mode available on OS X is 4 in / 4 out only. Is there anyway I can select 24 bit mode on Leopard?

It seemed to select 24bit fine on mine. Went into System Preferences & clicked the Quattro icon there. To be able to select 24bit had to deselect I/Os 3&4 then the 24bit option became available. At least that what happens on my Leopard 10.6.5

Because of USB 1 bandwidth it will only do 48K max to get 96K you have to select either a stereo input or stereo output.

I think I've only tried the 24bit option once & it seemed to work. Mostly its on 16bit 41K. Then I forget its even there, my mixer becomes the front end, suppose when you forget its there then that means its doing the job properly.

Ohh, I totally missed the panel! This is really awesome! I'll test later. Thank you very much!

All the switches on the front panel were worn out, so Quattro was making very loud white noise occasionally. So I opened the metal case, applied a drop of lubricant to each switches, and now they work fine. I tested 24 bit mode input, it works fine, sound great!
I really like how it is built, it seems to be very durable!
I don't think there are 24 bit audio interface (who needs 96KHz? as long as it is 24 bit/44KHz or 48KHz, I am happy) with MIDI in & out in this price range (I know this is used, but still...)

for an additional $70 you could also max-out the Quattro with the M-AUDIO OMNI... it's only good if you already own a Quattro & it adds a bunch of ins and outs [as well as preamps] to the interface for pretty cheap as well... there's one on ebay right now...

The switches are still giving me issues!

I'll try to replace those worn out push on / off switches. I could not find the exact DPDT switches, but I think I found the switch that can replace those faulty parts. I'm not absolutely sure whether this switch will fit (I do know that it is much shorter, so the buttons won't reach to the hole, but it is fine with me), but I ordered them anyway:

OK, it did not work, the switch was too small, won't fit holes on the PCB board. (I lost like 10 dollars!)
I've just ordered from Mouser, this time, they have all the cut sheet, so I am confident that it at least fit to where the switches are.

OK, I've received the switches today. I've just replaced the switch, The switch from Mouser was compatible. Now my Quattro works very well, no more static noise.

There is the pins sticking out on the switch, you must bend them to prevent touching to case and other board.
And, the new switch is slightly wider than original, so one of the screw did not reach to the board, since there is not enough space. However, the boards inside are still held tight, so I don't worry about it at all.
Otherwise they are compatible.

It makes sense that why the used price is very low.
I think most of the case all the push-down switches have to be replaced. Not difficult, if you have very basic soldering skills.

I've been using it for a few months now, and I like it a lot. The unit does warm up a lot though.
I use it for 2 in & 2 out only (for now), and it sounds great with 24 bitrate. I did came cross with sound clipping issues with MacBook Pro (2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 3GB RAM) but after replaced aged battery, the issue is gone, among with other issues.
If you have Mac laptop with old rechargeable batteries, I strongly recommend to replace it with a new battery, as MacBook doesn't work well with old battery. I bought a cheap non-Apple brand battery (around US$30, genuine Apple battery would cost over US$100), and it is been working fine.

Is anyone using M-Audio with Quattro with the latest OS X 10.7? I'm still on 10.6.

I have a big problem and Im driving crazy.......

I bought the m-audio quattro usb audio interface, installed the latest drive.1.6.2... Now when I openthe settings in system setting where i can select which in-/outputs with bit depht and so on it displays: Cannot connect to m-audio usb quattro is it on?

And yes it is on... Its connect... The usb wire is good....
Im using the latest macbook pro with lion...

Any suggestion??
