how can i load more than one program using this.
like one program in bank a, one in b and so on.....or can u

pg 111 in the manual. The manual is there to help you out, don't be scared to use it homie..

that does not show me how i can load 1 program per bank....
but i did learn a couple other things from that.....good lookin

I'm glad you got something out of it, but you aint studying Chapter 7 enough homie. There is NO WAY you can have a program in each bank.

The very "first" sentence in Chapter 7 states:
"A program is a collection of sounds assigned to 64 note numbers."

Now I ask you, how many pads in banks A B C and D do you have all together? That's your answer. Give it some thought and get back at me.

what im thinkin is this: i want to know how i can load more than one program into the mpc.....maybe thats the same question




but....i did look over that chapter u encouraged me to..and it says"as four programs can be played back at the same time"

so.............................................do i need to load from 4 different disks?
im way too high for all this

it also says u can create up to 24 programs.... ? is that the max the mpc can hold at the same time? where would they be kept? if u can only have one program per bank.....
i think i just need hands on cuz im no good with that manual....im the type that has to be shown.....that manual is too confusing for me...

See, now you're confusing BANKs with DRUMs. Read through the section again and give it some thought!

A program is ALL banks together not just a single bank.
Let's get that str8.

Let's fast forward to pg. 112 in the xl manual shall we.
CREATING A PROGRAM.

Just for S&G's (stihs and giggles) we are going to go through it like this:
A sample is a sample correct?
16 samples make up a BANK.
4 Banks make up a PROGRAM.
A PROGRAM is assigned to a DRUM.
24 PROGRAMS can be created/loaded to reside in RAM (memory).

On the main menu for each seq you choose which DRUM
(1 DRUM points to 1 PROGRAM) you want to use for THAT seq
BEFORE you record.

There are ONLY 4 DRUMS in the XL so you can ONLY use 4 PROGRAMS at a time. ALL OTHER PROGRAMS RESIDE IN MEMORY AND CAN ONLY BE ASSIGNED IF YOU SWAP AN ACTIVE PROGRAM FOR AN INACTIVE PROGRAM, remember DRUMS point to PROGRAMS...

Follow along with the page 112 and DO it while you READ and it will all be clear. When you are finished, don't clear out/erase anything, just DO IT again but change all the DRUM 1's to DRUM 2's and PROGRAM A to PROGRAM B.
IF and HOPEFULLY you will do this, it will all become more clear.

Some people learn by reading.
Some by watching another person.
Others have to actually do it before it will make any sense.

I read the book twice while I was on vacation before I ever touched my MPC and many of my answers were squashed by me doing that.
