What monitors do you guys use?

I think that's why some people like them. If they manage to make something sound good on them, it'll most likely sound good on any other system. In other words, they are known to translate very well, once you nail a mix.

I kinda agree, but of all the monitors Ive heard in the price range, there are def. better, more clear and transparent choices. I try and mess with 2 or 3 different sets of speakers and a pair of good headphones when mixing anyways. If you rolled the Yammies AND a set of Adams or Genelecs, you can make it alot easier on yourself to nail a mix.

Oh, and if you US cats have access to Yorkville brand gear, check out the Yorkville YSM1-P monitors. They are manufactured by Long And Mcquade, Canada's version of guitar center, they also make ART products like the Pro VLA II Compressor (SICK!!!)...I cant find better monitors, new or used, for the price I paid for these bad boys. I hate L&M, but they know what they are doing, plus the speakers come with a 2 year unlimited warranty! You could roll those shits down a flight of stairs the day you buy em, return em, and theyll service them under warranty or give you new ones. (**** I sound like a hype man..... )

I have pair of HS50's and I must say I am happy with them

I have HS50Ms & thought it was a big mistake

Every mix I did on them was totally wrong when played elsewhere. The bass response doesn't so
much roll off as f**king plummets. I have a nord 2x rack & I had no idea of the concrete crushing subsonics
it kicked out because of these.
Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow sounds like Bip Bip Poo, on these. Have a friend who has HS80s & he
has a similar problem except he has about 4Hz more depth & then his bass response nose dives practically
instantly. If you are sourcing samples before 1990 then you could probably get away with them. But after that,
anything with depth & you are totally trying to guess what the bass is doing.

However,
Bit the bullet & got the HS Subwoofer. Totally different story. Utterly gorgeous & luv em to bits.
The Sub is way too expensive though, got min off ebay & still not cheap.
HS50s on their own now gives you a consumer mix perspective, so they become quite handy then.

Have a friend with Passive KRK rp6's and a good hifi amp, he seems quite content.

Much like Konc3pt I have Events, the 20/20p's had for almost six years no problems

I used to own the alesis minitor one mkII they were good sounding but now have mackies 824's mk1
they are simply awesome

I would stay well away from m-audio and generally very cheap ones as they are poorly built and will sound shit.

Try to get the KRK's you really dont want to be cutting corners when it comes to monitors or your mixes will sound crap.

that's wasssup...im no expert but dopedee got them too and recommended them I was looking to pickup pair of bx8a's at the time...trust the dude he's a engineer after all.

i just bought (5€) two Dual CL 240 'monitors'.. i think theyre from the mid seventies, and german. theyre closed cabinet, woofer and tweeter.. im hoping for ns10 like behaviour :
i think one tweeter is busted though.. how can i check this?

i picked up the yamaha hs80's with the sub recently and i **** love them.

i use the krk rokit 8s and a good pair of headphones...and crappy laptop speakers
