Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

For starters I have searched the forums for help on this and haven't found anything. I have my MPC4K hooked up through USB to my iMac 10.6.7 with Aksys 2.6.1. It functions properly for everything else I have attempted to do. Today I decided to try editing my samples with Audacity or Logic and found that you can set your default sample editor. Who cares right? Well this thing is cool, it automatically loads the sample and when you save it in the program, the sample is put back in your 4000. You don't have to create a folder as "home base" to carry the files from Aksys to your editor and back, it does it for you.

Anyway, I went up to FILE and selected CHOOSE SAMPLE EDITOR. I tried using Audacity first and it was available to select. But when I double click my file in Aksys it opens up in iTunes. So I tried Logic, same result. So then I found a random .wav file on my Mac and right-clicked it. Under GET INFO you can change the computer's overall default program with which to open this file type. I figured if it was saying the same thing Aksys was saying maybe it wouldn't be confused. Still opens in iTunes.

Does anyone have a fix for this??

Much Appreciated in Advance.

Click on Sample Editing, Choose Sample Editor, Locate your Audacity .exe file, click it. If this does not work go into your itunes setup and wherever it is where you can choose what files it automatically opens , uncheck that and you should be fine. I do not have itunes anymore so I am not sure on the specifics . Hope this helps, let me know how it goes . Take Care.
