are those tact switches the right ones? I thought the 3000's switches only had 2 legs instead of 4???

did anyone find a good supplier for 3000 tact switches?

Yeah son, digikey.com and search for part number SW264CT-ND

They are a US company but ship international. I'm in the UK and it took about 3-4 days to arrive! Seriously quick

I think it cost about £22 for 50 switches including postage. Not bad considering mpc stuff want £5 a switch......

Damn JD. You threw me curveball there. I was just about to order the correct switches. Oh well..

Anyone need 100 MPC60 tact switches?.. holla especially if you live in N.Z or Aus.



OK finally got round to opening er up.

The jog wheel was an easy fix as suspected. squeezed the knob off. pushed it into place and tightened the nut. Pause.


Am I correct in thinking I should remove this whole board on the right side?

Yes you are correct.

If your MPC3000 has 32 megabyte of SIMM sticks installed then remove this board ( EXM-3002/EXM-3008 ) as pictured above.

new tact switches get the thumbs up for me, just done them on mine, what a difference it makes. Feels new again. and dont have to mash the buttons now for some response. Got paid today, might have to just treat my self to a set of rohans chips

i might have to do those tact switches this weekend.

about how long did it take you to do all of them?

i'm usually pretty fast with a soldering iron.

It wasn't to bad. I must admit I didn't rush mine at all, and done it over the course of a couple of days, but I expect if you know what your doing you could probably have it done in evening from start to finish, including stripping the board from the machine and reinstalling.

The worst part to be honest is removing the old switches. I did get a desoldering iron but wasn't impressed with it to be honest. The nozzle on this particular one was to big, meaning that it wasn't in contact with the solder and was making more contact with the board.

I only have 9 old tact switches left on mine now, those are the ones beneath the lcd screen, and the 5 left of the pads. I was more concerned about doing the ones on the main board tho, as they are the ones which get the most use.

My play, stop, play start, and record buttons were the worst on mine.

Been a minute now, I've got a little time now to finish what I started.

I'm a little confused as to what's going on now.

When I brought ol girl previous owner claimed the scsi fuse needed replacing and so thats what I assumed needed doing.

Have replaced scsi fuse but when I turn ol girl on I still get.. "SEARCHING SCSI FOR HARD DISK" .

Is this symptom of bad fuse or not?

I've tried to recognise/ format scsi disc on all options but only get "ERROR CODE FF48".

Any input appreciated.

Its easy to remove the old tact switches.. You dont even need desoldering wick or a desoldering iron... All I did was gently pull on the tact switch while applying the soldering iron on the other side and they popped right out.. Then used a little pin to push the extra solder out of the hole as I was applying the iron to the other side... Not hard at all.. I replaced every single tact switch on my 3000 this way.. It was actually pretty fun...

As for chopping.. it does take a long time to do it in the 3000 thats why I do all the chopping in my computer and then export it into the 3000.. much quicker and easier...

doing my tact switches this weekend and adding Vailixi 3.50.
