Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I have this problem I cant seem to load a single sample if it is more than 3seconds. Its kind of bothering me I want to get some nice string sounds. Is there anyway around this without upgrading? is my 2000 just kinda broken? or could it be bad quality floppies?

sounds like the disk is messed up... but before doing anything rash... I suggest just making sure your floppy ribbon cable and ram are properly seated in their connectors. Over time these things have the potential to creep out of place ever so slightly... and it sometimes could cause small issues.

Try that out and give her a good dusting with compressed air like usual while your at it and try it again.

If that doesn't work maybe test a different set of floppies or a new (known working) floppy drive.

I agree, you got it opened anyways so..

and those damn sliders seem to be prone to getting messed up. I think that's a cheap replacement too if contact cleaner wont fix it.

Good luck, and by the way... post the result in this thread just for future reference in case somebody else winds up with a similar problem.
