I strongly disagree! This dose apply to Hip Hop and any other form of music. This is a good example of how to obtain pro results. If you read it carefully it tells you to apply only where needed. Oh, and to the others my fault i should have gone to the link before I openned my big fat mouth.

But the more involved the sampling process becomes as far as analyzing wave forms and transferring samples back and forth from the comp to mpc the more music losses its soul. Even pop shit is starting to come to their senses, for instance in the new Monica single, the samples are nice and clear and obviuosly ran through some professional gear/samplers (perhaps the 3000) but you can still hear the crackles from the vinyl samples, Missy of all people keeping it grimy. Tight.

Personally, Ive just been perfecting sampling and editing directly on the MPC, and my sound has greatly imporved. As far as running the signal through the least amount of gear before recording, recording at higher levels, playing with the attack and velocity, etc...everything you need is on the MPC.

hahahaha, I havent had clicking problems since I used a Roland MS1 and a four track.

if you can count a 4 bar beat while your recording you wont have that problem, its all about nailing the sample in the first place.

you are missing the point koolshah. i am talking about setting loop points within a sample. sustained looping. not taking a break or bassline and looping it. taking a short string sound and creating a sustaining loop so you can use as much or little strings as you like. that's where you will get nasty clicks if you dont loop at zero crossings.

I am glad to read your input KoolSha178. I respect your opinoin on this matter. Thats all I wanted and had to draw it out any way I could. But my opinoin is that while you are perfecting the MPC others are trying to find thier style and may use the article in creative ways that express who they are. I love the MPC - I LOVE 2 Battle. The MPC is a very formatable weapon for a FREESTYLE PRODUCER. How ever some do not push the envelope with thier weapons of choice and find creative tools to accompany them. Thus thier style is born.... Don't knock it.

you mean like taking a .05 rhodes sample and sustaing it so you can play it like a board on the mpc??? oh....my mistake. I didnt even know you could do that.....(if you want to break it down feel free.)

im just trying to push my MPC skills right now after getting fed up with the comp as a creative tool.

my mpc honeymoon period (thinking everything i do on it is dope) is over and im bringing stuff down to the basics, rocking the tap tempo, note repeat, real simple maybe two to three musica samples per beat, clean drums, lots of open space for mcs, etc...a la Beatnuts/Premier, so im stoked on myself. =)

Agreed, ive been through that whole site. But the guy knocks hip hop throughout the all his articles, so i gets bitter.

MPC must be dope for freestyle. I wanna start making gangster freestyle when I get a chance. I am from the Bay Area ya know freestyle was large out here in the 80s... =)
