Is there any significant difference between the old(blue) and new(black) mpc 1000?

I'm pretty sure the black one has 8 outs...but I also heard the blue one has a better "swing"

And the D/A converters in the blue 1000's are older, so they have a warmer sound.

i'll tell you the honest truth... blue mpc's (and black models with grey back plates and old pads) had a more decent tact switches in the buttons. the black mpcs with black back plate and new pads were produced with cheaper tact switches and they give out in a shorter amount of time. i've had all the above mpcs multiple multiple times and i've inspected everyone inside and out. the older tact switches react a hair trigger smoother/faster compared to the newer tact switches and you can tell instantly if you've used either extensively.
at the end of the day if you want to treat your 1k right and replace the tact switches out.

I've also noticed one significant difference between the MPC1000 and MPC1000BK.
The MPC1000 (blue) has a sign "Made In China" at the back panel:
...while my the MPC1000BK (black) has the new pads and its rear panel is signed "Made In Taiwan" just like this one:
... I don't know if a place where the device was fabricated has sth to do with its quality, but this difference is quite interesting to me.

I've owned both,
The blue one had the shit pads
MOST black ones have the upgraded pads
the button colors are different and the screens were a little different. Other than that, same thing.

hahaha... damn right...
anyways... I've heard that not every MPC1000BK has the upgraded pads. I saw some MPC1000BKs that were made in China as well and had a silver rear panel, so I guess the "Made in Taiwan" black rear series is a bit newer..
Can't really tell the difference from the musical or technical point of view, cuz I only saw a blue 1000, didn't work on it.
