2000 Classic LCD on a 2000xl?

i have a 2000xl that has a bad screen and i pulled it.. now i have a 2000 classic screen which works perfect the only issue is that the cable on the 2000 classic wont reach all the way down and around to plug into the bottom of the 2000xl.. anyone have any ideas as to how i can repair/fix this issue?

maybe solder the metal ends of the ribbons in a specific way? anything! please help!

well in a couple of months mpc stuff is apparently getting the new screens that were designed and made by forum member envision electronic

anybody know of any place i can buy a connector/adapter that will allow me to add length to my ribbon/cable? theres literally about 8-10" seperating me from my MPC!!

anyone know the size of the pins on the cable?
style of cable?
any additional info?

it appears to be proprietary... and it requires you to solder a DIY extension.

any info on where i can find a tutorial? i can solder i just need to know how/what im soldering..

some threads around here talk about needing to extend ribbon cables for the screen on the 2000/2000xl/dps units...

been looking.. cant seem to find anything.. do you have any links handy? btw, thanks for the help..

ah man, I dont because I didn't bookmark them as I didn't need to ever do that... you would have to search for things like

lcd 2000 2000xl dps ribbon

try that and similar stuff out.

i decided to just go ahead and sell my screen.. im not getting any use out of it at all and it is flawless.. no dead pixels at all..
