Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By Matt6671 Wed Jul 13, 2011 4:29 pm
Hi guys,
i just ordered a mpc 2000, wanted to connect a zip drive to it, but if i change the setting from floppy to scsci in the disc menu (Shift 3), my pc freezes and just says "wait ...".

Anyone knows how to deal with that?
Held would be much appreciated :-)
THX!

This happens to me too... when I need to load a sample I only can switch between floppy and Flash ROM, If I try to move to other device it shows "wait......." and freezes... any idea about what's wrong? I do not have any SCSI device connected to the port... I should not try to do this or I should be able to see the other devices but showing that nothing it is in there? It is annoying because I have a 1K with HDD and when I switch to the CF card when card it is not inserted show me that no card it is in there but doesn't freeze at all...

Yeah I know, actually I don't need to do that, but my question is if that is normal (?) the MPC always freeze and that happens to everybody or something is wrong with mine... also I notice this not because I was messing with the MP... since I know I only have floppy drive available It is a waist of time to be looking for another external device but I notice this when I was trying to load a sampler accidentally I moved the jog wheel and bam!... so I don't want to this happening again saving a project and then the MPC freeze and I lose all my info...

I haven't tried even going to those on the classic 2k, but on the xl when you do that... it pauses for like 3 seconds or so on each scsi ID... but it doesn't freeze, it just takes time to figure out nothing is there. Maybe the 2000 doesn't have the sense to say **** it after a few seconds.

yeah tried it...

powered it on, with the 1.72 disk. tried in the load, save, and format tabs to change the device... no freezing, it scrolls through all scsi IDs and the f-rom.. back to floppy. I have nothing connected to the scsi interface and no F-rom (which is the only expansion im missing.)

It did not freeze, okay sometimes it slows down a bit but you keep pushing the directional keys or job wheel and it catches up eventually.
