Hello, I am working in a small room, and am planning to build some bass traps in the corners, from floor to ceiling (except one corner which has the door in the way).

Also, I'm planning on putting a couch at the back wall, for somewhere to sit and also because I heard it's quite good acoustically. It's usually advised to place the couch in the center.

However, I dont have much space for a couch to sit in the center (because of the bass trap on the left , and the door on the right). but I could have the couch fill up the corner of the room as well, and just build 'half' a bass trap above the couch, to the ceiling.

I'm not sure if this is a bad idea, compared to just having a single seat "couch" in the middle, and a full bass trap next to it.

I knocked this up so you can see what I mean...

can anyone suggest which would be the best option?

Thanks!

I think this would be a good way to go, and a pretty creative / cool solution too. Everyone's gonna be like 'woa whats this crazy tall couch pillow!?'.

Also, it further breaks up the symmetry of the room, which is always a good thing.

Haha. I hope they do.

I was a bit confused about symmetry, as I think I've read contradicting opinions on it before, so I wasn't sure if symmetry was bad, or good (which is why I thought people suggest a couch in the middle)...

Cheers for the advice!

The studio/ tech/ production articles you will find on SOS site are the best I've seen online in one place.
