MPC 2500 Randomly Crashes

I'm having an issue with my 2500 in which it crashes randomly and all the lights shut off. I've remove all the optional hardware llike the cd-rom, memory card and i don't have a harddrive. Any clue as to what may be causing this?

Aso i like to add that my internal factory sounds appear to be missing also, the pgm files are there but the wav files are missing

when did the random crashes start occuring ? did you buy mpc new ? have you made any modifications prior to when you started having issues ?

It started two days after me purchasing the MPC from eBay, I did add the cdrom and memory to it, but since remove them to test and all i have to do is turn it on and it crashes after a couple minutes of being idle or in used.

I would make sure you didnt bend any pins in the process and they're not touching

No bend pins, could a bad tact switch caused this?

in your other thread you said you get SDRAM error...if you take out SD and leave RAM error does it make more sense to you ?

How can i check to see if the internal ram is bad? Because that's the issue i'm having

Sorry dude I jumped the gun thinking you didnt remove the ram...Im afraid if the built it ram is corrupt there is nothing you can do yourself but have a certified technician look at it...what does it say on the ram stick that you pulled out ?

I had the exact same issue and was going ape sh1t trying to keep from having to pay for a repair.
I was able to fix it tho. Here’s what I did:
1) Carefully disconnect everything including power. You’ll need to open the MPCs memory access slot .

2) Turn the MPC upside down on a towel or something. Make sure the screen is secured and flat when turning it upside down.

3) On the bottom of the MP, unscrew the small metal door that has 2 screws, (your memory access slot).

4) Carefully remove the RAM chip, don’t force anything .

5) Clean the contacts on the RAM . I used a mixture of 30/70 alcohol and water with a rag that won’t leave fibers on the RAM chip.

6) Reinstall the RAM. Secure the door with the screws.

7) Done.

Before this, I was having MPC power resets at random , especially when the MP was accessing the Hard Drive, DVD drive or I was menu diving between save and load etc.
