New user: Optimal SCSI connector for 2kxl? memory transfer

I just obtained a sound library CD for my newly acquired MPC 2000xl, and this one has a floppy drive, the minimum ram, and it is the SE-2 version.. Basically I had my Macbook with a usb floppy drive, and it was cumbersome to say the least, transferring one sound at a time onto the floppy, then moving each sound into the 2kxl, going back, loading the floppy again, loading another sound.. Then I had my daughter loading it for a project she was working on, and forgot to tell her the memory onboard is volatile. She powered it down, then lost all the sounds.. Start all over..

What would be a good solution for this problem?

I would like the sounds to stay there but if they can't do that, I would like to be able to load the maximum amount of sounds possible. This means I need RAM, correct?

And for saving projects, sequences and sounds, I need a good scsi drive. I would prefer finding one locally here in Oklahoma. But I'm willing to buy something online.

If I get a CD rom drive that has minimal memory storage but can load the sounds from the CDrom instantly.

What about a SCSI-USB connector? Would that solve all my problems? I could move CD-loaded sound sets straight from the computer to the MPC Via USB/SCSI, right?

I highly suggest not only expanding your ram with the full 32 megs (2x16 meg chips)

... but also I suggest getting a cf card reader in there. They are cheap for the XL model.

i suggest you go to this website:
http://www.scsicardreaders.com/, as the stuff you are getting you know will work on the mpc because the guy is pro when it comes to mpc storage.

I have perused their site and plan on ordering something from them, AND I would appreciate any and all independent opinions regarding this, especially if you have done some of these things with your MPC200xl.

I have on my own put together my own IDE/atapi card reader on the 2000xl however it did not have a mounting bracket... instead it had an old hollowed out broken 3.5" floppy drive I had lying around that I converted into a card reader.

It was very cheap to build as I got the CF adapter on ebay for pennies... however I knew what I was looking for in terms of specs and I didn't care about features such as looks, hot swapp-ability, or the ability to use CF cards as high as 16 or 32 gigs.
