better to use a bus - say alt3/4 - to connect to your soundcard. that way, you can easily choose which channels to send to the soundcard.
there should be a series of hook up diagrams with the manual.

also put your mpc record ins on another bus.

as to whether to go into xlr of 1/4 - will depend on the impedance. is one line in? are they both balanced?
i imagine you don't need to go through any preamps, so skip the xlrs.
does your manual have any hook-up tips?

The box only came with the fast track and PT and how to install it but hey what can you expect from a $60 interface.
