Questin about old and new mpc 1000

Ah...yeah I remember a thread thats floatin' around here somewhere....from when everyone was crappin' their pants that Akai screwed all the blue owners by putting new pads in the black 1000. If I remember right, there's a serial number range for the blk models and all those past that have upgraded pads.

Can't really tell the difference from the musical or technical point of view, cuz I only saw a blue 1000, didn't work on it.

that is correct recently unloaded black 1000 with silver back panel and it had old style pads...based on that my guess is all black 1000's with silver back panel have old style pads while all black are the newer ones

...you're right... According to Akai Pro (21)K10707022305506 and all higher serial numbers have the new pads (and probably black rear panels).

I recenty got my first ebony girl friend. I don't think I'm goin back haha

to me the original blue was much more durable.. the end caps didn't break, the paint on the top panel didn't chip off so easy, the frame itself just felt stronger.

If you compare the empty blue frame to the empty black frame you will feel that the black mpc is more flexible and I dont know if they did that on purpose to absorb some shock, so I'm not sure if it's a good thing or they just used cheaper metal or something.
