I find myself copping these sets sometimes just to check em out. I dont always find things I like to use.

I found the squarewave drum sets the best and platinum percusion the best of tutors downloads ,i also found that using them in a mpc is strangley more effective then Ableton (I dont know why )

The last artist set i got was Dilla and origins had some realy good bassdrum init so am sure youll find something useable

I also have the Dilla set and I am curious about the Rza set. I think I may get them also.

I wonder if I compile my own random drums and call them 'J DILLA SUPER SECRET DRUM SET' how much could I make? It won't stop there, I'm name dropping whoever's hot, too and watch the dummies fall in line. Word to PayPal.

hey nothing wrong with having a variety of drums on hand... especially if you dig layering. I dont always have time to dig and search for drums. I'd much rather have a library to pick n choose from. Sometimes theses sets are dope sometimes not.

And the haters have arrived! What if you called them "Kaybee Drums", how much would you make? If you sponsored a forum by selling advertising, samples and tutorials, how many "dummies" do you think would "line up" to "hate" on you while using your site and not support your products? so mad! i don't want a dilla set, a rza set or any other set that sounds like someone else. that's my point. would kaybee drums sell? no, because i don't have a groupie producer fan base. i build my own drum kits, i don't bite another producers drums, that's wack to me. i'd rather be a hater than a biter. sorry i ruffled your feathers you little girl.

Just to clarify, our 'Inspired By' sets are just that - the sounds are 'inspired' by these producers, but we are not trying to directly copy them. So we immerse ourselves in a particular producer's sound, and then go about creating unique layered drums that 'tip their hat' to that producer, but also have our own unique signature to them.

We know that some people would never buy drums, that's fine, so hate away I guess. But many producers just need quick access to loads of pro-quality, ready-processed drums, so they can concentrate on writing the rest of their music and speed up their workflow. Different producers have different areas of focus - each to their own.

Been making my own for the 3000 but batch processing, and using RS16x to convert to SND and to create programs can be hair pulling stuff. I'd be interested in some "real" kits. No layered stuff as much - just close mic'd and optimised for 16-Bit. Mebbe some compression and tape saturation... yummy. All I see on your site is Hip Hop this, Hip Hop that. That's why I haven't bought anything.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, would love to do a really nice, multisampled acoustic kit. But as with any of these types of packs (i.e. ones that involve hiring studio space, the kits, perhaps a session player, recording equipment etc), we have to consider the size of the potential market in relation to the high costs involved in producing the sounds; plus of course looking at the existing competition, as there are already lots of really great multisampled acoustic kits out there - is there room for another?

As for the hip hop slant, that's the biggest market for us, as most MPC users are hip hop producers, so when we decide to produce a pack that is 'genre-specific', it will tend to be hip hop.

However, for the foreseeable future, we're going to be focussing on tutorials and multis, and these will be created for any MPC producer, regardless of musical style (just like the majority of our tutorials and multis already are), so you'll see less of a hip hop slant on the site.

Word Tutor, there is a market for acoustic drums. I was gonna point out that the cost of a drummer and the creditable engineer to do the job but you knew that. But there's so many ways to achieve acoustic drums at a fraction of a price or nothing, like hiring interns from recording institutes and using their facilities to record or even church bands with a good sound engineer. Most of my drums came from improv sessions at the university. Teachers love leeches that love to learn. Or maybe members here that drum can help out. You got the site and the means.
