C'mon son. You didn't ruffle my feathers. You just showed that you are cheap and have no head for business. You build Drum Kits. That's good to know. You wouldn't know what a "good" drum sounds like unless you heard someone else use a drum that you liked, right?. Something inspired you to want to do music. So keep it real, Little Fella. And post some of your drums so I can get inspired by them too. For as much trash as you are talking, I bet you probably have some awesome drums! Now shut up, hit the loud, and get back to beat making.

MPC-Tutor wrote:Just to clarify, our 'Inspired By' sets are just that - the sounds are 'inspired' by these producers, but we are not trying to directly copy them. So we immerse ourselves in a particular producer's sound, and then go about creating unique layered drums that 'tip their hat' to that producer, but also have our own unique signature to them.

We know that some people would never buy drums, that's fine, so hate away I guess. But many producers just need quick access to loads of pro-quality, ready-processed drums, so they can concentrate on writing the rest of their music and speed up their workflow. Different producers have different areas of focus - each to their own.

BTW to anyone who's interested, send me a PM if you want the RZA pack, and I'll do you a deal on it.

Word!!! I pm'd U. btw i think your drums are dope. I for one am one of those cats that like to have a library to dig into... from time to time i make my own kits from wax thru some of my outboard gear for processing to my liking but fa-real fa-real that is time consuming and I am not often in the mood to do that. once you get done with that you should only hope to have the energy to bang out a few joints... anyways. yall should do a set like my man said and call em WARM & PHAT :) all tape saturated and compressed banging. Or do a Black Milk inspired set.

that's funny. and yes, clearly your feathers are ruffled as well as your co-signers. i am keeping it real. that's how i feel. if everyone else likes vanilla and i like chocolate - does that make me a hater? or only if i share my opinion? it wasn't a personal shot, just how i look at (insert producers name here) drum kits. and i'm not sure how it makes me look 'cheap'? because i refuse to buy WAV files supposedly made (or 'inspired')by top-notch producers? i refuse to pay for computer files, not even mp3s, i still buy cds. i'm not sure how you came to a conclusion that i have no 'business sense'. to me, it makes no business sense to pay for wav files. but if you wanna spend your money on ish like that, it would make perfect business sense to sell them and that's what i'm saying; so i can get paid too! i got a golden gate bridge drum kit i'm making now, and if you buy 2, i'll throw the bridge in free.

Yes, would love to do a really nice, multisampled acoustic kit. But as with any of these types of packs (i.e. ones that involve hiring studio space, the kits, perhaps a session player, recording equipment etc), we have to consider the size of the potential market in relation to the high costs involved in producing the sounds; plus of course looking at the existing competition, as there are already lots of really great multisampled acoustic kits out there - is there room for another?

also it's worth considering that a MPC-based multisampled acoustic kit would be troublesome due to MPC limitations...4 layers on most mpcs, 3 on jjos - unless you use simult, where you can have 12 layers per pad. plus loading all those samples - a true multisampled kit is so BIG.

"is there room for another?"
plenty of room, but probably not with only 128 mb ram!!! let the VSTi world do the heavy lifting when it comes to multisampled acoustic stuff...for us MPC people, just keep releasing dope drums

I have only sampled drums on a beat once i think........It's here or their for me ......

9/10 times on this site the drums i've purchased have been used well and as a "STARTER"

who has just bought an MPC maybe influenced by this site ,the site drums become essential ...

as you have to make beats and learn timing i guess so like tutor says who wants to **** around ....

You'll never find a sample pack that is 100% great sounding and have a full libary of A+ drum hits .....

i started off wanning to be hip hop so this place was so ideal & cheap also the drums i feel cos they maybe aint as processed

as much as "Dancey" sites do actually help your drum timing as they are quite dry so .... i say if you unsure go for them

esp if you doing swingy hip hop stuff definatly 8) 8) :D

True.

The Abbey Road kit triggered with Maschine (or MPC) is an expressive beauty to jam with. 8)

Well no need for multisampled kits. I'd be happy with 1 layer, the MPC expression can do the rest. And yes, I do believe there is a market - I'm not sure what competition you are alluding too? Are there really great acoustic kits in MPC PRGM formats? Haven't found anything. As for sourcing - would there really be a need for you to go through the motions as it were of hiring studio time, sessions player etc? Could you not license or source pre-existing drum recordings?

As for the hip hop slant, that's the biggest market for us, as most MPC users are hip hop producers, so when we decide to produce a pack that is 'genre-specific', it will tend to be hip hop.

Fair enough. So how about the Linn Drum kits or the fat Wild Style kits of yore? I'd be interested in those. "Inspired by Sugarhill" anyone?

However, for the foreseeable future, we're going to be focussing on tutorials and multis, and these will be created for any MPC producer, regardless of musical style (just like the majority of our tutorials and multis already are), so you'll see less of a hip hop slant on the site.

Thanks. I'm sure your tutorials are valuable resources but I'm mroe interested in the kits! In fairness though, I will try one of your "inspired by" kits this weekend. Hopefully, a snare is a snare, a kick is a kick. Its just when designers start adding "noise" to give it a "lo-fi" flavour that I get turned off.

There's no MPC-specific stuff available, that would certainly be our differentiator.

We could license pre-existing recordings, assuming we could find someone with what we need - the problem are the very high license fees being asked by these people, which are a real stumbling block for a very niche site like ourselves. This is why we tend to handle the entire process in-house, from initial recording, processing, editing and publishing.

However, I will start making some enquiries about sorting this kit out, hopefully I can pull a few strings with one of the local studios, as I've always wanted a product like this on the site.

That's understandable. And commendable practice, for sure.

Well I'd probably be your first customer, then.
