freezed mpc 2000 ... scsi connection damaged??

i have the same problem...
don't know what is damaged and need to be repaired to connect a zip drive...

any idea??

i suspect the issue will go away when you have something connected.

Mines did the same thing with my old zip 100 scsi. I figured the zip drive was broken and went ahead with getting a used jaz 1g drive on eBay. Works great! Even transferred OS to it so it loads from there if floppy is not in drive. It may be a bad drive or cable.

Just an update, I tried to push main screen button for like 3 min? also moving the jog wheel lots of times, I wait like 15 min maybe? doesn't help... what I noticed is even when the MPC freezes the sounds loaded in to the pads are still being able to play if I hit them... weird... any other button, cursos or jog wheel do not make anything tho...

So IDK what to do... even when I don't have a SCSI device it is annoying when you know that something doesn't work like it should...

yeah I suggest just not doing that since you know how to force it to happen... also, are you on v 1.72?

Bro, just to update this threat, I found a SCSI CD drive I set it to SCSI ID-0 and connect to my 2K Classic which previously were freezing all the time if I tried to select any SCSI ID port, now it works perfect!, I can switch between F-ROM, floppy or any SCSI ID ports without a problem, but if I take this out (of course after turning off the MP) the problem still there, MPC freeze and I need to turn it off, I tried this on my 2KXL and it works good too, but difference is when the CD drive it is not connected the XL do not freeze when I try to select any of the SCSI IDs... what I noticed it is the XL even recognize that which IDs are not present and take it off the list, so after I try to select all the SCSI IDs then just let me pick between the F-ROM and Floppy options... (all this when no SCSI devices are connected).
So at this point I guess I just gonna try to avoid turn the 2K jog wheel more than needed so I will not select any SCSI to avoid this...

Yeah I know, very odd, anyways... at least I know it is not the motherboard, I was thinking mine was **** up but I can see it is not that... anyways I don't really need SCSI on the 2K, when I use it I use it just because I want to have that old school feeling and use floppy and all the limitation that comes with it...

Yeap the CD drive it is external and honestly IDK what kind of enclosure it has... do not said anything in there it is a white one with no brand or signs.. anyways it came with the 2K XL that I recently bought and I'm going to sell the drive because I just upgraded my XL to the IDE CF card reader so I don't really need this piece... btw if somebody it is interested I'm going to sell this SCSI CD drive for the 2K classic, also I have an external SCSI ZIP 100MB for the 2K XL.

hey just a heads up, but open the external enclosure up... it very well might be able to house a hard drive instead... the enclosure has the scsi and power supply right? so you may be able to make use of it for backing up your projects.

Yeah, I thought about that but then I realize that I almost always bounce my beats to my DAW and do not worth having such a big thing in my studio just to backup my beats, I think somebody else could give it better use than me... anyways thanks for the advice!...

To add: I have the same problem. Somewhat annoying as it freezes when I'm trying to put the OS onto my newly acquired flash memory. I'm guessing all I can do is try something on the SCSI port, right?
