They use the hard drive power connector that is there in the MPC.

Basically a CF adapter with a CF card in it is an IDE compatible drive, the only difference to the MPC is that the CF drive only uses the 5 volt line in the molex plug and not the 12 volt line. The 12v pin is not connected to anything on the CF adapter board.

You can get adapter boards that have the 40 pin IDE interface and the molex power connector side by side just like the back of a hard disk, so they plug into the MPC cables just the same. You'd just have to rig something up to get the adapter board safely mounted on the hard drive bracket.

Yeah that's the one I was after - 12db is very quiet so no need to compromise on air flow.

The Papst fan I got seems to be pretty noiseless running it while holding it, so we'll see what it's like when installed in the MPC.
It's rated at 25 cubic metres/hour and the requirement is 0.44 cubic metres/minute (26.4 cubic metres/hour) so it's close enough.
