Input Thru on the 2000 Classic?

Okay, quick question. I recently picked up a 2000, and I really do like it. It's all big, ugly and mean... I even like using floppies with the limited storage capacity. I find with the 2000, I spend more time actually making beats, and less time fiddling around... ringing bells and blowing on whistles. Hey, now THERE'S a concept.

One thing that has been slightly bugging me, however, is that I can't seem to monitor my synth thru the MPC when I record to a midi track. It's not a MIDI connection issue... so no need for some in depth "midi handshake" lesson. I just want to be able to hear the notes I play, whether I'm recording or practicing. I can't hear notes played on the synth, unless I'm in Sample Mode.

I understand the work-around solution, by incorporating a mixer or an interface, but it's really convenient sometimes to just do it in the MPC, especially since that is what I'm most used to. I'm about 98.625% sure that the 2000 doesn't have an "Input Thru". I did a search using keywords "Input Thru" in the PDF manual, and got zero results. But idk, maybe they called "Input Thru" something else back then... like "Audio Thru" or something...

Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

consider this the extra 1.375% you need to be assured of that.

this might not be a hard circuit to integrate into an mpc, diy style, but i never see it done.

nah.. i guess youll have to find another way to monitor your synth (im assuming you can hear your mpc fine)

maybe have to rock headphones out of the synth on one ear, while u listen to play back on the other.

Or maybe I could use two pairs of ear buds... one for the MPC and one for the keyboard... Jam two buds in each ear, and... BAM!... Stereo!

I was at a friend's house the other day with only the synth and the MP, and was killing myself trying to get it to work in a silent room filled with 10 people, just sitting there... watching me hit buttons while mumbling to myself. But no worries, next time I'll just be sure to bring a few extra pieces with me.

Thanks for the responses. I can live without the Input Thru function, just wanted to make sure.
