windows 7 speech recognition + glovepie + midi routing + jjos2xl button mode = voice control over MPC...

now to change active track all i have to do is say "track 1" through "track 16" and it'll change tracks for me...instantly, without my hands getting taken off the pads.

the possibilities are excellent here...

yup. video will happen. this is going to be loads of fun for MPC and for DAW work.
i don't know how well this will work without headphones (ie w/ background noise coming from monitors) but i work with headphones a lot anyway....i think with a decent enough mic and by tweaking the glovepie code i can get it to hear me over noise though

sorry dude i don't understand: could you explain?

Could you go to the ONE BAR EDIT screen with your idea?

yes, i think so.
i will need to experiment in creating "macros"
where midi note 0 enters GRID mode, midi note 1 turns on SHIFT with NOTE ON (shift is released with NOTE OFF) and midi note 2 triggers F1 (to enter PATTERN mode)

so: intended "macro:"

voice = "pattern mode"
becomes:
note 0 on/off (enters grid mode)
note 1 on ........................ note 1 off (holds shift for a time)
................note 2 on/off (triggers F1)
= enter grid pattern mode.

i think this is doable with Glovepie. the scripting is very easy.

gotta wait on the video til work gives me a copy of win7 64, all i have is 32 right now and i want 64. i got the voice commands working on reaper at work today, configuring for mpc is just a matter of time.

and arkyve, i am definitely already developing gear! however i doubt i'll ever market it, as i'm so disillusioned with hardware manufacturers that i'm hesitant to become one...and i'm not a good enough programmer yet to make my own plugins/softwares.

Please keep the progress updated. This is really big.PEACE TYPO

i agree that this is big. this has the potential of being bigger than just "weirdo nym's cool setup"

i have a proposition, typo.
i think we should come up with a standardized button mode layout...
there are 0-127 midi notes and X number of controllable mpc functions via jjos2xl BUTTON mode
if we map those out, we could share key combinations and "macros" to send to our mpc to automate certain tasks. we spoke of this before but i really think it's time to move on it.
the standardization is the tricky part, as we all have kind of used button mode in our own ways so far
but i would totally reconfigure my setup if it meant that the community would give me new functionality.

i could then create a mpc voicecontrol howto
it would require the following programs, all of which can be installed for free:
glovepie
midi yoke
reaper

the glovepie script would load at startup...
folks could run the reaper prj and use their own daw of choice
very simple configuration would lead to people being able to voice control their mpc

ideas. let's take some time to think about this.

edit. here is our documentation: http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/os2xl/button.htm
i think i counted just 93 midi note controllable actions for jjos2xl.
they are listed below:

PLAY START, PLAY, STOP, OVER DUB, REC, BAR, STEP, CURSOR, MAIN, WINDOW, UNDO, SHIFT, TAP TEMPO, MODE, ERASE, FULL LEVEL, 16 LEVELS, NEXT SEQ, TRACK MUTE, BANK A - BANK D, F1 - F6, AFTER, SLIDER, LOAD, SAVE, TRACK MIXER, RECORD, TRIM, PROGRAM, PAD MIXER, MIDI/SYNC, OTHER, EFFECT, SEQ EDIT, STEP EDIT, GRID, SONG, TRACK01 - TRACK16, TRK 01 MUTE-TRK 16 MUTE, TRK 01 SOLO - TRK 16 SOLO, NUMERIC 0 - NUMERIC 9, NUMERIC +, NUMERIC -, NUMERIC ENTER, DATA +, DATA -

i say we put them in order exactly as given in the chart in the link...starting with midi note 0 and going as far up as they go (92 then??). if jj adds any more, we'll tack them on at the end. this is all back end stuff anyway, once the standardized BUTTON layout is loaded it's not something the user will deal with ever except to update it.

that way we can trade midi note combinations (raw midi files, even) to feed our mpcs and do stuff......
