Think about it, picking samples fast has its advantages.
keepitcherry wrote:imagine if you spent an extra hour or two or day or two polishing that skeleton of a beat into a masterpiece.

Who's saying you can't or shouldn't do this?
keepitcherry wrote: people actin like your skill is only demonstrated by how quickly you bang out beats.

I'm not acting like that.

all i saying is dont automatically think cos u spent hour on a beat shit is dope i know dude labored on a beat for time and the shit is stale and boring.
sometimes capturing that quick spark to get a basic idea down is good then as dude said u might go back and add some lil details to complete it but this should not take hours, if it take so much effort it may be that u have a poor workflow.

everyone is making good points... and just like EVERYTHING in the world... there is NOT an absolute answer (some religious people who like to disagree) ... but one thing we should all remember... a lot of music is made in a matter of an instant... inspiration, knowledge, improvisation.... coming out at once. most famous musicians dont think about what they're doing... but then again - some of the greatest musicians plan EVERYTHING out

SOOO.... when it comes down to it... it really just depends doesnt it? depends on who you are... but even besides that depends on how you're feeling at the moment

i know you ALLLLL know... you can make a Dope ass beat in 30 minutes... and you can make a shitty one in 3 hours... or vice versa... there isnt an absolute answer to this discussion.... just like so many things...

lol this reminds me of eating mushrooms years ago in highschool ... lol

That's why I've given up on this thread... anything I say will be countered with the EXACT opposite opinion!

I do prefer the end result of the well crafted music from the likes of Nym, Roxstar and Cherry though. The shit knocked up in 10 minutes sounds like it was knocked up in 10 minutes to me, and that ain't my thing really.
