Annoying noise

Hi ppl!

First, i'm from Spain, I have one akai mpc4000 & I have a seroius problem:
when I play some sample I can hear a dirty noise during all the sample...I have probed to hear the sound by the headphones, by the digital output and main out but I don't find any difference; the noise persists.

I think the problem is inside the appliance, I've tried to listen for a variety of different outputs, with original music CDs and other CDs with samples ...

Someone has this happen? what could it be?

I bought an mpc4000 off of ebay once. It had the same problem you describe. I investigated the cause and it could have been one of the following:

1) The AD/DA board is not functioning correctly.

2) The HDD has become corrupted making sample playback unstable.

3) It has bad ram.

I have listed the potential causes in order of difficulty in fixing them. There may be other causes I am not aware of.

I never found out what was actually wrong with the mpc4k I bought from ebay, I sent that back directly!

I do not mean to get rid of the sampler, I have ruled out that option lol. Is there a service for this? I do not know what to do ...

#3: Sounds like bad ram.

charlieocali has happened to you too? Right now in mpcstuff have the 256MB module in $ 49 here in Spain worth € 34.3 so I could buy the two modules now. I need to fix this problem soon.

You didn't look at the listings for MPC4000 RAM did you? It is new...

I have had tons of samplers over the years, and though not with this machine in particular, Ram problems are the cause of what your describing.

Yes but my experience buying RAM by ebay was not cool. :S

Ah, ok - I was about to buy that RAM on the listings I posted, so should I go elsewhere?
