Hey, first off, I'm sorry to say I haven't searched around for an answer to this yet, mainly because it's regarding an item I would have to purchase in the next couple hours.

It's an S3000 and everything works fine but he says this on the post "Please note - Sampler was working fine, but the screen was dark, I purchased a screen kit, must have done something wrong as the screen does not work."

Do you think he fried something on the motherboard? Or do you think if I simply get a screen replacement I would be good to go? It's super cheap right now, still under $20 so if all it needs is a screen that would be awesome.

Once again, sorry if this has been covered, just looking for a quick response but I'll search in the meantime.

Thanks and look forward to getting to know akai products.

there is a discussion (last couple of days i think) on here about screens/backlights. seemed to indicate they are expensive and hard to get. but have a look yourself. i wasn't that interested and didn't pay attention.

well, $20 is cheap - but the price ten minutes out from the end of an auction doesn't mean anything.
but you should be able to get a fully functioning one for around $100/150.

is the 3000 all tricked out with the extras? maybe get a 3000xl or 32000.

Until you have the machine in your hands there is absolutely no way of knowing what the problem could be.

I'd pass unless you know exactly what you're doing, there are plenty of fully working Akai samplers out there to choose from.

Don't be cheap!!

Best decision you could have made.

If you're gonna get an 'older' sampler, get the one you want with as many options as possible.

In terms of the S3000, you might as well cop the S3000XL and be done with it.
