i have the mpc500, which only has the L/R output + the headphone output, but what im wanting to be able to do is this:

Kicks on MPC Track 1
Snare on MPC Track 2
Hats on MPC Track 3
Samples on MPC Track 4

OKAY...how would I be able to apply compression from the 303 ONLY on my Kicks on Track 1 in the mpc 500, WITHOUT having that effect applied to all the other tracks on the mpc?

And once i got the effect applied, say 10 minutes later I wanted to change or re-do the applied effect, would I have to delete that track and re-record the said track all over again?

(So far, i've just been using the 303 by itself, but i know a few of you guys around here have experience with the 303)
Thanks!

its been years since i had a 303, but if i understand what you're asking, what i would do is run the mpc outs to the sp and the sp out back into the record ins on the mpc. Just solo out the kicks and rerecord the kicks with compression back into the record ins on the 500 from the sp with compression, (if the 500 lets you record while playin from main outs). Then for the switch up just create another track with the effect change and use track mutes to change it in the sequence later on.

That's the way that i'd do it as well.
