First, dont sample from your head phone jack! theres a better way for better quality. Rec IN MPC to the OUT of your interface (assuming that there at least 1-2 outs).
you can save your samples on you computer, but if you have a group of sounds that youve already used on your MPC for instance a folder be sure to do all your renaming and editing of data IN YOUR MPC. if you edit anything - sounds, programs, folder names that was previously in your mpc then on your mac your MPC wont read it. this isnt a general rule, only personal experience, but ive read about the same situation with members on the forums.
Also, the eight.three rule is always good for compatibility. ive only had great results keeping my sounds names max 8 characters "." then three characters i.e. .SND or .WAV
also ive read that formatting your disks to FAT32 on your mac (using disk utility) with make your disks compatible between MPC and mac, however ive never tried this.

edit: also, cards readers have certain brands they like. my cf-reader only likes a few brands so it might be that as well. listen to djdz and check out [url]scsicardreaders.com[/url]. theres alot of info there as well.
