Back in '07 I purchased JJos, sold the mpc that same year without including the password or disclosing it had JJos on it. Reason being at the time it wasnt widely known and didnt want the potential buyer think his mpc was hacked...At the time there was also rumors flying around JJos can potentially damange your MPC....I still have the product ID and password for that particular machine. Is it long shot to ask for credit towards my future JJos purchase for current 2500 I own or swap of ID to be able to use it on current machine ?

Naw man it don't transfer. I had a 1k and paid for all the versions of the JJ OS, last year I sold it and got a 2500 and I had to re-purchase the OS at full price just like everyone else. The i.d. and password cannot be transfered from one mpc to another, doesn't matter if your going form 1k to 2500 or 2500 to 2500, you have to buy it all over again. It sucks but the OS (specially XL) is so dope I didn't even think twice about paying for it again.

damn that sucks...not being to transfer is what's holding me back from purchasing xl...in this economy you never know what you gonna have to sell next, I cant see myself putting $ 123 in his pocket every I got a new mpc...for being smart guy he is there should be way to do this!

All i have to say is,as much as it sucks that the pass stays with mpc and not the user.............it forces you to purchase a password and that keeps JJOS still working and pushing updates & additions.......its a good thing.

I bet you'd be suprised how much time he actually puts into this shit. How about you all give up 20 hours a week (or probably more) for free..............And if he's doing this full time and is into it (seems like he is), then thats like 60 hours a week.

Just sayin!

not saying he dont deserve the dough, very much does...but for as much of a genius he is there should be a better way to manage this...and I feel a tad of greed got to him at some point...there is really no way to check if given mpc had any paid JJOS on it like there is no way of keeping your OS copy.....dont it feel like we somehow get screwed in this aspect

It was clear to me when I purchased/installed JJOS that it was for a single machine, regardless of my circumstance. JJ dongles might get pricy. Greed is a bold suggestion when talking about programmers who provide free alternatives.

So fella's! If I buy an mpc2500 with JJ 2XL on it and a password, I'm ok? I can install updates and reinstall the OS and such? And what if I lose the password? Or the seller gives an incorrect password? I don't want to purchase a new password. The reason Im buying this mpc, is because it has jj on it!

you only enter the password once to register... if your MPC has a registered version of JJOS installed you will never need to enter the password... not even when you update... and yes, the updates are free... you should be set.

Anyone who buys an MPC and doesn't know if it has JJ OS can just try loading the JJ OS. It does stay with the machine. If they buy the OS while the machine already has it, the OS will load without requesting the password and they just wasted the money, but I doubt many people sell an MPC without advertising the JJ OS.

If times get tough sell something else or pay the piper twice, he's not greedy.

But this will only work in instance of most recent JJOS XL, as previous paid versions arent available for download...so you cant check if you're eligable for the upgrade am I right?
