The thing I would want the most is just a better, more thought out main screen. There is A LOT of wasted real estate, first off, and secondly, its not smartly laid out.

In my opinion, the best of of jjos2, easily, was being able to assign samples to pads from the main screen. that made auditioning sounds 100000000x better.

And Its been said, but being able to sequence tweaks done to synth parts. LFO and OSC changes and all that.

has any of the features that have been requested been added since this 2.0 update?

I request that the 5000 doesn't break after only a mere hours of use since purchase.

I now have an error caused after a large buzzing sound was generated from playing with the effects (applied four effects on one buss).

I wanted to play around with it to get a feel for it as im new to MPCs and figured i could play with the settings to see how each effect sounded.

Anyway, the sound would not stop so i rebooted.

I then had an error message saying that the Effects Processor was not loaded.

Then i had a second message saying something similar.

Now i can't get any sound out of the machine.

It seems like its built like tank but runs completely W*^&. How can you learn to use this thing, let alone make music on it if every five minutes youre sending it back for repair. Im not having a very good experience with Akai. All my Korg products are rock solid (as far as software stability goes). Wish i'd bought that MV now after watching RZA talking about his. This MPC is great if it could manage the things its meant to do but so far its been complete rubbish.

Does anyone know of this error and how it can be fixed without sending back again to Akai?

I was enjoying making my first sampled beat there...and then.....crash. Broken.

Cheers

I think what I'd really be happy with is to be able to copy/paste/delete slices...

Also, more effects. 4 effects buses is simply not enough. Either that, or modify a sample with an effect and save it as a new sample.

Checkbox select/deselect samples, etc for working on multiple files at once (i.e. copy, edit, delete).

You can do that already. Resample it.

Askia Shaheed wrote:1. Sample Editing : Non-destructive chopping (JJ OS)- this allows slice regions to have their start/end points overlap each other. Also, it would be great to have a scrolling cursor in the sample trim screen so I can tell what portion of the sample is playing when I press a pad (Fantom G). Having a way to add or delete sample slice points (Roland MV 8800) using a cursor a user can scroll would be a significant enhancement

2. Instrument programs/Key group programs (MPC 4000/ JJOS) Parameters include: Sample Low key & High Key, Original Key, Level, Tune. This is probably one of the most sought after features MPC 4000 users want as well as MPC 2500/1000 users.

3. Global program editing (filters, LFOs, etc) of programs (JJ OS). I would like to have an option where I can apply the same settings to all the pads within a program.

4. Assign multiple programs to a multi-program (MPC 4000)

6. Real time pitch shift w/o impacting tempo – recorded samples or during recording

8. Add 4-band parametric EQ as a filter type as well as the Master EQ

9. At least 2 LFOs and 2 filters per sample or program

10. Mount/Un-mount USB connection to PC w/o removing cable

11. Independent loop settings for each track

13. . Sampling/re-sampling with adjustable sample rates/bit depth (in spite of having the decimator and resampler in the FXs processor)

14. Sample list view - where you can tag (select/deselect or check/uncheck) one or more samples for deletion or loading

15. Loading folders: automatically assign multiple samples in a folder to a program/pads

17. Independent filters per sample layer

18. X-fade settings between sample layers

19. Add reverse and alternating to the sample play mode

20. Improved data compatibility with all Akai/MPC sample/patch formats as well as Roland, Akai, Emu, and Yamaha formats

23. Edit the name of external MIDI modules. Currently, external MIDI devices are named Programs No.1 thru No. 128. I would like to be able to edit this and have the name of the Patch I am playing. The MPC 3000 has this feature.

Thought i'd bump this (and quote the features i only want :D )

That list must be pre OS 2.0.
There are some really good suggestions by Askia. But these points are fixed since 2009:

2.) 3.) and 15.)
18.) I'm not sure of.
17.) possible via Simult function.
20.) Data compatibility has been much improved with most Akai formats.

Request option to increase sequencer memory allocation

Its got 4 midi Ins and 12 q-links for a reason and I'm running out of memory tooo fast when controlling my external gear.

They put some of my suggestions and bug fixes into OS2.0 - maybe they'l do this for me too.

Not sure this has been added here but I think it would be great if there were improvements to the effects. I usually like to have one effects bus for compressing and slightly bit crunching drums programs. But then I will want maybe one or two pads to have reverb or delay rather than assign it to a bus where it looses the settings from the other bus. maybe either have the ability to add aditional effects per pad or the ability to have two effects sends in the pgm mix mode so some sounds can have additional effects from one of the other 4 effects buses.
