i have a mpc 2500 and i just brought a tascam dp02 from my friend for cheap.has anybody used this equipment with their set up??and have you ever track out your beats with it? or do you recomend protools or any other softwear?give me some feed back

I started recording with a Hard disk recorder similar to the one you just bought. If you're just starting to make music and you don't consider yourself computer savvy enough to use a DAW like Pro Tools I would say the Tascam is the way to go. But if you're like me you'll eventually outgrow the Tascam at which point you'll have to start learning how to use a DAW. If you feel you're ready to jump in on DAW recording now I would say sell the Tascam and start looking into what you'll need to do to make sure your computer is ready to run a DAW. :D

Thats the only problem, you can't tell by the meters if its clipping. But as a guide, if you hardly see the bar bouncing then its too low and if you see the bar just standing there, then its too loud. The bar should be bouncing from the bottom to just a little bit over the middle line and occasionally hitting the max range.
