MPC4000 Customs

So I have finished laying out my template, however my screen printer is in prison now.... yes, prison.... whatever.....

Anyway, does anyone know of a good screen printer in the upper midwest that can handle something like this? Screen size/shape is pushin it for a lot of shops.

The bend is the biggest hassle, that and the upper-most part of the Q-Link art.... it's so close to the bend that the screen frame has to be custom even when making two screens.........

Just gotta get that print back on (For resale)

sorry for so many posts today, been lurking for years, and just now getting in position to mod the snot out of these things.

To sum up (If all goes well in the next couple months) This is what I can offer:

Chrome or any kind of paint on top panels.
Chrome or any kind of paint on chassis.
Wood Side and Wrist pieces, any finish.
Aluminum Side and Wrist pieces, any finish/paint/chrome.
Paint origional Side and Wrist pieces.
Brand new screens for as little as $100, any color tint mod.
Wood or Aluminum Screen Surrounds with Plexy window, Any Finish (The front plexy part covering the screen enclosure, not the black plastics)
Wood (Fragile) or Aluminum Screen Enclosures, any Finish (The black plastic screen enclosure halves)
Wood or Aluminum F Button Surrounds, any Finish

Maybe:
Processor Upgrade/Fix (Just need to test the chip, need a donor board or unit)
Screen or Pad Print Text/Graphics back on (Can't find a cost effective source for short run)

I'm not too interested in doing custom knobs and buttons, I know it's killer, but the paint most certainly would flake in time no matter how good the prep, the plastic is not a type that would die well, and the buttons are EXPENSIVE per button via MPCStuff or VST..... can't find a source for them elsewhere (ie China, Phillipines, Taiwan, Japan, etc) If someone has a source let me know. Would be cool to be able to go all white/black/whatever on the mod.

That's it. Not really much more to do with em, but Mines goin all Chrome and Wood. Any Q's just ask, but I won't be offering these to 'the public' until mine is done (Month or two) and some things won't be available until I'm able to test (processor) or find a source (print, buttons). Also I don't recommend the wood screen enclosure as it would be fragile and could break/wear/crack at the back where the 'strap' mounts.

Chrome and Paint available now, caps available as soon as the prisoners cousin doing the CNC gets the programs finalized.... soon I hope. Not far to go.

I'll update this actual post when it's all ready and post pics of mine all done (Maybe minus the print)

Total Mod, excluding the screen and processor..... I'm thinkin they'd start at $400 +

wtf my last post just saved to draft,

$400 would be 1 color top panel, 1 color sides and wrist

compare to FORATs and i guearantee it's great pricing

not to discredit them, I've delt with em and their great, but compare mine to theirs with one year normal use and mine will still look new.

That said, that Mopar job is bad to the bone

there are special foils made for this kind of work, that goes around very sharp corners... the problem isnt if they can handle it or not, because its not too hard if you know what you are doing, but the question is if you think it will be worth paying for it, because it might take a little work and time to find the right foil for the job. but then you might run into the problem of the foil not being good to print on, or that the adhesive isnt the best for the sruface etc and then you have to start over

but yeah, if you look up foils you'll find a whole new world that you could also offer customers for certain type of jobs, rephlex and chrome in various colours, holografic.. textureized, brushed aluminum and all kinds of things

as for printing directly on the mpc cover, that might be much more trickier.. the screen net is pretty bendy though so i dont think the litte bend that divides the top is that much of a problem.. however, the part just under the screen where buttons F1 - F& sits, that part needs to come off.. then the sharp bend that goes from the upper top and down at the back, you could not do that with a normal screen, and more likely not even a normal machine to do it with.. the screen itself would not be able to reach it, so the process would have to be made in more than one step unless a custom machine was built that in one go flipped the cover so that it placed itself correctly inorder for the screen to go around the back

best workaround i can come up with here and at this time (have not been in the business for a couple of years, so dont keep up with tecniques and methods really) ..is to spray paint the cover, and then only ever print on top as normal.. because with a big screen i am pretty sure it could bend enough to just print at the top without breaking and no special or cusom made things needed.. but i am really just speculating.. been a while


but then again, the price.. will it be worth it? buying new screens when they break arent exactly cheap, so for a company to want to take an order they will most likely want a big enough order for them to want to print for it to be worthwile to them, or alternatively possibly set a very high price if its just one or a few covers..

but, if it is like it is around here, with lots of competition, small companies have to take on all kinds of different jobs to stay up and running.. so then you might be able to find a good price, they might even do it even if they wont earn anything on it.. but yeah, might need to look around for a while first.. we had to take on all kinds of jobs that didnt really pay us anyting, but we had to take them because if not, they would have gone to other places, so need to take them in the hope they will come back with somethng more worthwile etc.. but its not like that everywhere i guess, lol

Love that chrome/wood mpc.. But also the black with the chrome knobs looks excellent!
I dont know the price of such a custom job, but if i had the money.... pfffooooooo!
