Formatting Zip disks in MPC Editor

I'm having trouble using MPC Editor and the ZIP 250 drive connected to my 3000...

What exactly is the order of operations when formatting a ZIP disk? Because when I format the ZIP disk in my 3000, then MPC Editor doesn't recognize it in my PC's USB ZIP 100 drive. After I format the ZIP disk in my 3000, when I try to export a program of sounds in MPC Editor, I get the message: "Please insert a disk into Removable Disk (J:)."

I'm trying to create a program of sounds on the ZIP disk in a USB ZIP 100 drive and then load that in a ZIP 250 drive connected to my 3000 via SCSI. If someone could explain this process step by step, that would be great.

I hope I explained my problem adequately. Any help would be appreciated for sure.

i think its pretty safe to assume that this was explained by mpc editor documentation itself...


but here goes anyway....



you NEED a TRANSFER DISK to make your life simpler...



this TRANSFER DISK MUST be formatted in the PC using mpc editor's 'special format' function... the 3000 'special format' function "tricks" your mpc into being able to access a disk created on the pc...


once again, the mpc will only be able to access a disk formatted on itself or on a pc USING THE MPC EDITOR 'SPECIAL FORMAT' FUNCTION...



this is why you NEED a TRANSFER DISK as the "go-between" to create .pgms on mpc editor and to load them into the 3000... once loaded from your TRANSFER DISK it is then wise to resave those .snds and .pgms to an mpc formatted disk to avoid the run around tactics of using the TRANSFER DISK next time...

the whole reason to BUY mpc editor in the first place is for that 'special format function'....

I'm using MPC Editor V3, 3.0.43, and there isn't a "DISK" menu or "special format" option. Am I running a limited, demo version of MPC Editor?

its been awhile but its the "FORMAT" function and has options for the various mpc models... the "3000 format option" is the only one that actually does the "special format" if i remember correctly...

there is no ""demo version" that i know of... it merely expires 30 days after install if you didnt pay for a license...

There is a demo version. It's the 30 day trial you download from the midicase site.
Some of the features are only available when you purchase the program.

@Xandre- It's easy to tell if your running a limited demo or not.
If you purchased MPCEditor you have the full version.
If you just downloaded the 30 day trial and havent purchased an unlock code, then your running the limited demo.

If you look at the MPCEditor webpage it clearly states what is missing from the trial version.( The format option your looking for being one of them)

it seems things have changed. but i do think that the "demo" and the full version are the same file, just unlockable features with the purchased license...

when i bought mine there were no locked features, just a 30 day "demo period" before the program needed to be purchased... the only real reason that made MPC EDITOR a necessary investment at the time was the FORMAT function... as this was the only possible way to transfer files to and from the pc and mpc 60/3000 that i had heard of...

There doesn't appear to be any way to buy the full version on the site anymore. I emailed midicase, though, so hopefully I'll get a reply.

Isnt there an option to purchase a license when you run the program ?

No, I think midicase might have abandonded the project and just left this limited demo on the site. I could be wrong about that, but I do remember when I downloaded it, there wasn't any option to purchase the license.

well make note of the date your free trial was started (or around when) and roll the computer's clock back before launching the app when you need to. That may work.

Anyone know where I can get my hands on the full version of MPC Editor?
