3.11 is a chip you can have installed(as far as i know unless i got ripped off?) it can only load snd. files, mpc 2000xl and up load wav.

so with 3.08 i should still be able to load snd. but not wav.
is snd. the only type of sound file i can load into it?
What is a snd. file, how to I save a sound file to snd. on the computer?
Thanks

Try sampling a sound with the machine itself, and try saving this .SND sample onto a disk. It then should work just fine to load from disk.

There are a lot of specification formats around with the .SND extension, if you just download any random .SND file off the internet, chances are it won't load into your MPC.

You sample it.. you record it? The line-in on the rear of the MPC.. ?

so you cant enter new music into the mpc through the floppy except music that you sampled and saved to disc.
where does the recorded sample go to when you save it?

why do you need a special chip for os 3.11, cant you download it from the akai pro website?

Is the screen supposed to be lit.
I've seen pictures of other mpc's and the seen to have a blue lit screen.

press the contrast knob, it is a switch to turn it on and off. If that doesn't work, you'll need a new backlight.
