Akai S900

Does anyone have any experience or know where I can get a new disk drive for my s900? The floppy drive sounds like it's working, but when I format a disk and then try to save to disk, the 900 says that I must format the disk first. I figure maybe the drive has gone bad and isn't formatting the disk. I use DD disk, that's all the floppy excepts. Point to a direction anyone. Thanks.

try getting a cleaning disk from a computer store or radio shack and cleaning the heads.

In my review of samplers hunt, I learned that the disk drive on the old akai samplers can go out easy. If it formatted the disk Its likely not gonna work just cleaning it. Go onto google and find the Akai sampler list, on it is a nice s900/s950 page where they list some of the parts that are "user replacable" the fdd is one. THen cop a new one cheap on ebay and install it. If it dont work its only a 10 dollar solution so no BIG and if it does work you fixed your sampler for 10$
