ARGH!!! My Q-Link slider is broken!

My Q-Link slider #5 has stopped functioning. I've gone to every screen in the MPC that it does something on, and it never registers that I am moving it at all.

Does anyone have any suggestions of a way I can fix it myself? What can I look for that may be making it malfunction? I've checked every screen, sub-screen, etc. and I don't think it's a software problem. I've even updated to 1.60; still nothing.

I'm not technologically inept; I put the hard drive, memory and CD writer in it, I can build computers, etc. I looked inside the MPC, and the sliders appear to be inside of a metal chassis that is attached to the underside of the top of the unit. Needless to say, I am afraid to open this part up, as this is where all the guts seem to be. Tips? Tricks? C'mon, guys, what if it was YOU???

just swap it with the other one.

sound like it's harware realted, u might need a new decoder or it could be a connection problem, luckly its not an exspensif replacement, no need to ship to akai just to see your friendly neigborhood technissian..

It could just be a loose connection inside the unit. Is the unit under warranty? If not just open the unit and check the connection.

yeah mine too.But not totally, just jumps around a bit and if you pull it sideways as well as up n down it works ok. Shits me to tears.
mine gets moved around alot and it cops a fair beating though.

leave the repairs to a prof cause you have to desolder the fader from a circut board. itll be a bit tricky
