mpc and microkorg midi

hey whatsup- this question is for anyone whos hooked their mpc up with he micro korg. ive got mine lookin pretty good the only thing left to figure out is how to change midi channels on the actually korg- havin a tough time gettin that. much appreciation- one love

You did get a manual with your Mikrokorg?

I see pages 48 & 49 in the korg manual give discriptions on midi control/recieve scenarios.

yea i do have the manual.once i set the first channel n record what i want. i switch it to midi 2 on the korg the select and instrument then i switch it to midi 2 on the mpc and channel 1 no longer plays. im sure its got somethin to with how im approaching the change from 1 - 2 but the manny makes no mention of it. 1

As far as I know the MK can only play one voice at the time. You can assign different programs to different channels, but only control one of them at a time.

1 at a time and 2 as a layer.

could you explain that a little grimm? cuz right now ima prolly jus record into protools with metronome then sample it back- but that dont really seem like the best option

u can only midi out one sound as a time. if you layer 2 sounds u can midi both sounds out but there gonna play simutaneosly and there's no way to separate them. u got patches and layers. patches are the individual pad. layers are different pads layered on top of each other making a whole different sound. there still the same sounds just layered. your gonna either have to sample the sounds and play them out on the mpc or one track at a time in pro tools (as u said). i had a xl with a microkorg wit some piggyback cable's to make sampling from it real easy.

connect the piggyback end to the out of the microkorg (the other end will go to a mixer/etc as usual). with another rca connect one end to the piggyback and the other end to the record in of the mpc. more than likely at some point ur gonna sample and it makes it a breeze.

Hi there, I'm getting crazy with the following dilema:

- I just got a micro korg to connect to my mpc1000. Midi cables ok, i select lets supose channel 1 in Micro korg and chanel 1A on the mpc (midi track - program (off)
- Play around korg record a lets say a bass line, no problems..
Then what I'm experience is the this:
- Since I want to sample the line into the mpc I jsut go to mode record to sample and some how the mpc sends some message to the korg that the sound is now diferent the A side B side is on and the arpegio is also on...

Do you know what could this be? I bet something is missing me, some stupid detail...
