all of my guys get em for free.....but we work together on a regular basis.
Basically no matter how much you sell it for, whether its free, or 80,000...get credit for it, and keep all your copyrights.
I would recomend to: at least have the copyright processing fees payed for by them!
Copyright your tracks before you sell them....some cats might give you a line like you dont need to copyright them, or why dont you pay for their lyrics....but man, they getting something....most of the time, i will give someone a track, and they dont do anything with it in a timely matter.
Its good to also give them a time line.
Look at it like give and take.....if you give them a better price, then make them have lyrics written in 3 weeks....if they dont do anything with it, then the beat is back on your court, and you can sell it again.
BAsically you dont wanna get screwed because someone is layz. Its time you could be selling that beat...90% of the time, tracks i already "sold" other people want. Even if the track is hot or not....everybody always wants what someone else has.
Plus if you motivate them to write to the track...then it will benifit you because they will be networking for you.
Most of the time if someone is willing to purchase a track, they will be motivated to actually do something... its the guys that get em for free that are layz. So just cause someone "blesses the mic" doesnt mean they are a good customer.
And dont ever sell yourself short. You invested in yourself...why sell yourself cheap? Confidence can also make for hot tracks!
