question about triton/motif rack module?

I dont know much about rack mount sound modules and i got a few basic questions to ask before i spend a grand on one. I've played on both the triton/motif synth workstations and i basically want to buy one just for the sounds to sync up with my MPC. But i dont want to buy a whole motif or triton sync just because they are so big and i travel between nashville and new orleans a lot with my equipment. My question is this....if i buy a rack mount motif or triton and a cheap midiman keyboard will it work the same as triton le/motif 61 key? Do the sound modules contain single tones for each sound, like a single guitar tone, or do they give you a whole scale of notes of each tone? So if i hook up a midi keyboard to the module will i get a whole scale of notes or just a tone from each sample?

im about 99 percent sure that youll get a scale of notes, the thing is that u need a sequencer i.e the mpc to sync it with to record what your playing which would also work as a controller but an oxygen 8 would be a better controller since it has more keys while the mpc only has 64 pads and some notes would note be available. 1

I definatly can not speak for the Motif but I do beleive the Triton rack has a sequencer. But I will strongly advise you that nothing campared to the MPC sequencer. BTW you sould definatly have access to all 88 notes on both using transpose.

Yes a rackmount triton functions just like a sound module version of a triton. think mo phatt and the mo phatt keyboard.
all the keyboard does is add the ability to flip the sounds right there and then, and the knobs etc. are dedicated.

It has the same engine driving it, and it has the same multitimbral capabilities, polyphony etc. as the standard one. I believe that the only difference is that there are no knobs or keys to play with. AS long as your midi controller can send all midi messages, then you can do it all with the triton rack. (control it like it was a triton from a midi controller) If you got xtra funky and got a controller where the pitch and mod wheels can be assigned to any paramater, then you can even mimic the assignable ribbon controller by assigning the pitch wheel to control whatever parameter you want.

So basically:
Triton sound module + Midi controller with knobs & sliders [Like Oxygen 8 or Radium 61 key] = Triton Keyboard?

If so this would be great! And cheaper!! If this is possible why would someone go out and buy the keyboard when u can go this route for cheaper? Not to mention you could buy several sound modules, rackmount them, sync with midi controller....and it would be like having all those keyboards right? This would be dope, can any1 clarify as to whether or not this is possible. Im new to sound module/midi stuff. Thanks as always....peace
