Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Is there a way on the 4000 for you to mute pads while you are playing a sequence back? I know you can mute the entire group, but what I want to be able to do is mute individual pads within a program while the sequecer is playing back so I can record individual parts for individual tracks on my daw. Is there a way to do this with the MPC? I've searched the forums for an answer, but couldn't seem to find a conclusive answer on this.

Thanks

Forum search is not what you seek young padawan....

PDF manual is what you desire!

Go to the TRACK MUTE screen.

Look above the "F" keys.

Thanks for the reply, but i was looking for a way to mute individual pads within a track that are assigned to a program. For instance, if I have a drum kit program with hi hats, snare, kik, tom, etc. I want to be able to mute individual sounds within the program during the sequencer playback. Is that possible?

This can be achieved in the mixer view, in does NOT work like the TRACK MUTE screen but it can be done.

There are a few ways, but I'll keep it short.

1. Step Edit window, Overdub Button, then press F6 [Insert]

a. Turn data wheel clockwise until you see, Pad Control.

b. Set the time where the mute is to happen

c. Move the cursor to the Note field:, hit the pad

d. Move the cursor to the Control: Field, it should read Volume

e. Move the cursor to the Value: field, set it to 0

*Don't forget to turn the volume back up, to do that...

f. Follow steps A through E and set the Value to 15,000

If you want the other methods, then reach out via my email and I'll give you my number.
