Is it the pads or me??

so i got a new MPC 1000 with jj os 3.12 , so my problem and question is, why doesnt the sample(s) i record sound like the way i hit it, for ex. lets say im using a snare sample i hit it sounds good ,but when im finished and the bar loop starts agian it sounds as if the volume was low or i hit it lightly wen im freakin hittin it as hard as possible. Yes i checked the volumes for the pad its at its highest. is it somethin i can fix in the mpc or is the way i press the pads.

You have to make sure you have a coherent relationship between velocity and volume.
You can try to make changes at the global, track, program or pad levels until you find something that fits your needs.
